Ocean Township Police today are reminding parents of the dangers of leaving children alone in a vehicle.
At approximately 10:27 am Monday, Officer Martinez responded to a single car collision on Rustic Drive where a car struck a building. An investigation by Officer Martinez and Detective Michael Melody revealed that the vehicles owner left his four year old son and his two year old daughter unattended in his running car.
“The four year old climbed into the driver’s seat and put the car in reverse causing the vehicle to back across the parking lot until striking a brick stairway wall,” police said. Neither child was injured as a result of the collision. The father was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with one count of child endangerment. During the arrest it was learned that there was an active contempt of court warrant from the City of Asbury Park in the amount of $250.00.
The suspect was released on his own recognizance on the child endangerment charges and will appear at a future court hearing. Bail was posted on the Asbury Park warrant and he was given a future court hearing on the Asbury Park violation. The two children were turned over to the care of their mother after the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency was notified.

And if you have the keys, you CAN leave kids in the car today and run into a store or wtvr.

Kids can become hyperthermic and hypothermic. Both kill.
You cannot leave your kids in the car.
What if someone had been killed in this accident what a horrible thing for this child this “father” has no business raising kids.
