Angela Caldwell, one of several who applied for the position of Board of Education member to fill a vacant seat, was voted in by the board last night, as reported on our news alerts last night.
Caldwell, an approximately 50-year-old Lakewood resident, an employee at S.T.E.P.S., is a graduate of the Lakewood school system, and a graduate of Georgian Court University, a Board official said.
Additionally, “being an African American, she will add diversity to the board,” the Board said last night following the announcement of their decision.
Caldwell will be filling the seat of Yoni Silver, who announced his resignation earlier this year.
There were only five board members present last night, and Caldwell won the seat by a vote of 4-1.
