  1. A no parking zone should be established from the corner of Ridge and 7th Street 200 feet going west. To prevent violation of the no parking zone concrete barriers should be put in place to prevent parking. As cautious as she was in inching out, and definitely because the black van parked near the corner limited her view, the sedan driver should have looked to her left again before crossing the intersection.

  2. TO ALL MY BELOVED LAKEWOOD RESIDENTS WHY DO WE ACCEPT THIS ????WHY IS THERE NO PROTEST DEMANDING SOME CHANGE TO PREVENT THIS?!!!!!!.ENOUGH!WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?!WHY DO I FEEL LIKE A SOLO VOICE?

  3. The reason there is no light at that corner is the same reason there is no light at the corner of James and Williams. It is because first we need to talk about it for a few YEARS. Sheer neglect and stupidity. We all know that we now live in a city that has huge traffic and transportation issues. That is no secret. But there are certain things that could be done RIGHT AWAY to alleviate so much headache and stress and they simply do not get done. Traffic lights, turning lanes, no parking, through streets, etc. How many accidents do we need to see at the same intersections to get someone’s attention?? How many hours of traffic do we need to sit in because it is impossible to make a turn before someone realizes that a traffic signal is needed ASAP? I wish there was someone in the Township who would just work on this! Aside from quality of life, it has become dangerous too. Let’s see something proactive for a change.

  4. Whether or not a light is needed in general, in this particular case it’s pretty clear that the vehicles parked close to the corner blocked the line of sight and the driver was not able to see the minivan coming even if they “looked left again” . Eliminating parking there would have done the job in this case.

  5. I’m with u mindboggeling. Absolutely insane. A traffic light or 4 way stop would prevent every one of these. If the ridge drivers knew they had to stop all these accidents would be preventable

  6. While I agree that we need a traffic light, let’s not pretend the driver is not at all at fault.
The intersection has clear signage that cross-traffic does not stop.
Yes, there is a car obstructing sight, but that doesn’t excuse you. It means you should inch out and look again, not just try to shoot across the intersection.
Most of these accidents, the driver doesn’t even look at all.

  7. Watch the video the lady looks to the left then looks to teh right after the suv passes and doesn’t look to the left again before going through the intesection and hitting the van she would have seen if she had looked to the left as she was supposed to.Just because bad drivers get into accidents doesn’t make it the fault of the intersection it’s mostly drivers fault the ones at the cross street for doing the wrong thing.

  8. As anyone who lives in the area knows, the visibility to cross the intersections is typically obscured by parked vehicles. The most economical and simplest solution would be to put up a 4-way stop sign. Lights at intersections take time and money, but 4-way stop signs will definitely limit the amount of accidents at the intersection.
