An Open Letter to the Vayemaen Org

I’m not one to usually write letters, but I felt compelled to share this as perhaps it may provide Chizuk for others as well.

I’ve been working in the city for many years. Recently, I’ve been struggling in business like many others.

While taking the carpool one morning around Pesach time, I noticed the person sitting next to me watching a video clip. I looked over his shoulder and found it quite interesting. I asked him where it was from and he introduced me to the organization Vayemaen.

Intrigued, I joined, and started getting the videos each day.

Around Pesach time, I received a video of Rabbi Sperling (I believe that’s his name), where he spoke about keeping track of every time you are careful with Shmiras Einayim. And he showed the image of a counter. The idea caught my eye.

As a Zchus for my business, I decided I was going to buy myself that counter and keep track whenever I had a Nisayon of Shmiras Einayim. Working in the city, I’m surrounded daily by Nisyonos, and I decided to gather as many opportunities as I could by looking away and looking down.

It’s a few months now, and I have already counted 483 incidents in which I turned away. Some of them were extremely difficult, but I felt good every time I did. (I’m including a picture of the counter which I picked up for a couple dollars.)

But what I experienced following this private program of mine, was amazing.

There have been numerous clients and deals I’ve worked on for literally years, but I found myself at a standstill. It was beyond frustrating.

About two months ago, I had the first big breakthrough and a deal closed B”H with very little effort. And then another, and another. Interestingly, some of those with the same clients I’ve been working on for years, only this time, with very little effort. I felt as though a clogged pipe of Shefa was unclogged and as if Hashem was showing me that if I worked hard in Ruchniyus issues, other things would come easier. There’s no other way to explain this.

I just want to say thank you to whoever is involved with this amazing production. The Zchusim you have is unmeasurable, and you will never know the extent of your work.

A regular Lakewood resident.

Hatzlacha.

  1. I’m so happy your writing about this amazing organization as I too am very very grateful to this organization and every time I have a nisyaon I tell myself “Vaymein” and I refrain from looking. This organization is a real life changer for me and I am so happy that they somehow added me on to their daily email they send out. Thank you “Vaymein”!

  2. Thank you R’ Isaac Czement and R’ Yisroel Hershkowitz.
Vayimaen is a truly incredible organization doing so much good.
I’ve also gained a lot from their incredible videos and the sefer Positive Vision. I recommend you learn it too

  3. People buy a lottery ticket hoping maybe maybe they might win.
This organization is a for sure win and it doesn’t cost any money.
I have heard from a few Rabbonim that if a person is going through a Nisayon with a specific issue and he is
    מתגבר
That is a very opportune time to daven to Hashem and ask a
    בקשה
Also nowadays we are in the month of Elul

  4. This post made me cry. I took am in the workforce and I come across immodestly dressed woman in a daily basis. I can control myself usually but I don’t feel the satisfaction of overcoming my yetzer horah as the nisayon comes in waves constantly throughout the day. Hopefully a counter will help me visualize the success and make it easier to fight this battle.

  5. This wonderful organization has literally changed my life. May those behind it be zocah to all the brocho’s stated about those who are עוסק בצרכי ציבור באמונה

  6. Incredibly inspiring that “a regular Yid” is being עומד בנסיון in the lion’s den. But, it important to stay true and faithful even when the sun stops shining. The world isn’t a token system. The next level is when the deals aren’t flowing in, there are major setbacks on projects that serious efforts have been invested. Use the good times to internalize this tremendous עליה and get ready for the next level of growth.

  7. Wonderful organization. I live in West Gate, New Jersey. A little different than Lakewood, NJ. I feel my neighborhood has high standards and I am happy and proud of it. Every community is unique. Thank God we can choose to be surrounded by people who elevate themselves and the standard of living. Much continued success and Hatzlacha!

  8. I’m all for Vayiman’s cause of Shmiras Einayim.

Now , how they go about it, including plastering signs in public areas and on front lawns? Not so much!

As Yidden we need to lay low.

  9. Thanks for sharing your story as I too work in NY and these video clips have absolutely transformed my life. Please share this story with the organization itself and hopefully they will get one of their amazing speakers to tell it over in the hope it gives chizuk too so many others

  10. I can personally attest to this as well. I too struggle with shmiras einayim. I have my ups and downs. But for a while I was very careful shmiras einayim. And all of a sudden, my business took off and things were b’h very successful. I’m telling you it works. Be careful with shmiras einayim, and you’ll see wonders in your life especially in parnassah. Yes it’s very difficult, but it works wonders.

  11. Love this! I think a big opportunity would be if someone would like to sponsor tally counters but a nice sleek one that everyone would like to carry around possibly with a keychain so it can stay with your keys maybe more people would be inspired to do this

    • Assuming that a counter incentivizes one to put himself in a challenging situation, in order to add to the count; withstanding the temptation to put himself in that situation allows for added counting. Essentially it’s a self solving issue.

  12. אל תסתכל בקנקן אלא במה שיש בו
I think an easy way to win the battle with
    קדושת עיניים
I will bring an example that is not 100% our topic but it’s a drop similar in showing us the true colors of human nature in certain people.
Our former President had different issues and after he became president, all of a sudden so many people came out of the woodwork and accused him of all kinds of crazy stuff. I think the main reason was because they wanted $.
Those same people that were suing the President and now they are senior citizens, I am sure that those same people when they were much younger, you probably may have wanted to look for a moment at them as they are crossing in your path, but little did you know that a person could be rotten thru and thru and at the same time they are able to fool you and you think that right now you are looking at an interesting and exciting person, but in truth after you get to know them , in 25 years from now (they are mumbling to themselves)
“I will see in court one day “.
Of course many people are great and special thru and thru, but do not forget that some people are not great thru and thru .

  13. WOW!
I work in Lakewood and have Shmiras Einayim nisyonos everyday on the streets in Lakewood.

I can also attest theses video’s from Vayemaen are so helpful with this temptation and fight. Continue!

Just a few days ago, I was mekabel a Kabala in this area, in something that is probably Al Pi Din (and not extras) as a zechus for Parnassah, which has been tough for me lately. I can’t tell you how difficult it is for me to keep this kabalah. Reading this letter and everyone’s comments is such a chizuk.

    Hatzlacha to all!!!

  14. Everyone deserves support and admiration for their efforts and success in this nisayon.
I do find it curious that while virtually every cause or program, whether necessary or not, shares endorsements of Gedolim,
I have not seen any mention that this program has the endorsement of Gedolim.
    Anyone know?

    • If you see the rabbonim that agree to make videos for them, I think that is endorsement enough. Rav Uri Deutch, Rav Uren Reich, Rav Chaim Meir Roth, Rav Meilech Biderman, Rav Dovid Pinto to name a few- and they make multiple videos.

    • My earlier reply to you was in no way trying to attack you or hurt your feelings in the slightest way. I maybe used strong words just to get the message more clear and understanding. You asked a question and I tried to answer it.

  15. Rabbi Sperling is a fantastic speaker- very down to earth and practical. Kol hakovod to the letter writer for following R’ Sperling’s suggestion! It should be a zechus for you and klal yisroel as a whole.
