An Appeal To Coventry, By A Coventry Resident

fenceCoventry Square is like a community within Lakewood to some who live there. We have our own Board of Directors and every home owner pays a separate fee to Coventry for the upkeep of the seven blocks that make up the beautiful kehilla. I realize that money is tight and Coventry does a descent job of trying to make the local area look beautiful. Therefore, the following isn’t a complaint, rather a request. Many of the backyard fences of Coventry are dilapidated or are falling apart. In fact, a number of people I know failed a Coventry inspection because their fences weren’t up to standard. In my opinion, the backyard fences should be the responsibility of Coventry to repair as seen necessary.

Consequently, I’d like to suggest to Coventry’s board that they either put money towards fixing the backyard fences that are in need of repairs or replace all the fences in Coventry as a means to help the neighborhood look nicer than it already does.

I stress once again that this isn’t a complaint against Coventry’s board, rather a suggestion. In general, Coventry does a great job with the upkeep of the neighborhood.

If elected Herschel will use the 50,000 dollars that he won’t accept in benefits to fix the Coventry Fences.

Narish letter!

It is like you are asking Lakewood townhip to update everyones kitchen up so it will appear nicer.

Coventry is a condominium they have a set of by-laws which say what is required form the assocaion and what is required by homeowners. Coventry is responsible for the outside of your home, cleaning the playgrounds, pool and clubhouse etc. The homeowner is responsible for the fence and inside of the home. How can you even expect them to be responsible for something that is not their responsiblility is pardon me a shtick “ferdish and grub” take care of your responsiblities and if you get a summons from the management pay a few dollars and fix it so you show how much YOU care about Coventry and do YOUR part!

I don’t live there but I did in the past and am quite familiar with the runnings!

if you’re not complaining, why are you doing it on TLS & not asking them directly?

more freebies please. its your house, and the rules say its your fence. its a chillul Hashem to allow your house (including your fence) to be so run down. The Board of CSCA should make sure the place doesn’t fall into disrepair by enforcing the by-laws, NOT by assuming your responsibilities as a condo owner. If you are a renter, your landlord must fix it. period. the end.

The fencing was put up by the unit owner The fence was put up to ensure each owners space. It is the owners responsibillity to take care of your property and space. Why do people think they are entitled to have governing boards take care of and provide all their needs. If you dont know how to replace a fence have organize a fence raising party and help each other. Im sure when a few able bodied men put thier umph together to do good for their community Coventy Square would become a much nicer community to live in and look at. And stop looking for handouts, learn to help yourself

Did you ewver wonder why some unitys have fences and some don’t?
The owner put them up! Therefore it is the owners responsibility to maintain the fence! Do you want Coventry to maintain whatever you decide to put up that people see?

Complain to the Mayor and the Township will do it. Then we can layoff more employees to pay for it.

Dont hang your dirty laundry in public! What does this have to9 do with anyone else? Speak to your board of directors.

What’s your agenda?!!

It is unbelievable how people shirk their responsibilities. Grow up you are not in the dormitory anymore, Mommy is not there to take care of everything for you. If you own a house take care of it (or ensure your landlord does). Why does everyone have to do things for you. I am sorry you failed your “HUD inspection” but does that also become everybody’s issue. Should we do your laundry too. This mentality is beyond “grub and ferdish”.

I don’t live in Coventry but I do live in another development and I see people live like animals with garbage on their front lawn waiting for the development to pick it up. When I point it out to them that it is impossible to have the development employ full time a garbage collector to clean their lawns they will shrug and say that the garbage is not theirs it blew over from the neighbor.

They would rather live in the garbage then pick it up. Maybe they can have the cleaning lady pick it up because they are to busy yenteving and complaining.

Same mentality as this loser letter writer. Do it for me.

Also Amazed And when I complained to the township about my neighbors overloaed garbage cans I was told “if it blows in your yard, it’s your responsibility to pick it up. I will never understand how people can live with the filth they do. Not taking care of whats yours shows no self respect and no respect for your family. When people pass thru this town all they see is garbage and junk all over the place. Just ride down rt 9. When people leave this town thats what they remember, the garbage all over the place. This town could make a fortune enforcing ordanances, let’s clean up this town by starting by taking care of our own.

Putting up a fence in Coventry is the homeowners option. Some want fences, other like to think of their backyard as just an opening to the common areas. According to the Coventry by-laws, every person has a right to put up a fence as long it is is one of two types and if it is painted then it needs to be one consistent color. If the fence is broken, you should report it to the office who will then send that person a warning. If it is not fixed, the way it used to work, is that Coventry would fix it and then bill the homeowner. Coventry has finally gotten their finances in order, why would you go and ask them to take on a new expense? RTFM

# 5 said it the way it is , don’t post something before reading Condominium bi-laws . If you need your fence fixed “Let Coventry Do It ” is the cheapest way to go , I priced it myself.

to #6 Mr. Maintenance,

What is a “Normal Maintenance fee”?

To me, normal is just enough to keep up (beautifully) what is jointly owned by all of the homeowners.
I would consider adding in extraneous items that are the personal responsibility of the homeowner as abnormal.

My guess is that you are in management and the more the merrier.

just a week before Pesach i spoke to Miron (the Director) about my broken fence – two days later i had a new fence put up and i got the bill ( im actually renting and so I’m debating if i should swallow the bill (well not swallow but you know what i mean) or send the bill to my landlord.

This conversation is humorous. Coventry Square does not follow its own bylaws which clearly state that the windows of the houses belong to them. They claim you are responsible for the 2 feet in front of the house but have no problem ripping our your perfectly good bushes. I can give you numerous examples of the double standards they employ. While I have no idea why the whole Lakewood would care about this, as a resident who already “Let Coventry do it” fix my fence and not really fix it at all, I am all for the writers idea. Maybe if they do it all at one time, it will be done right. Then again, maybe it will done like the siding. (only half and not even up to the standard of the company who did the job) I hope the new board will consider this instead of installing a gym with the extra 100,000 they are looking to spend
