Amerigroup holds community engagement event in Lakewood

Amerigroup on Monday conducted the first of a series of community engagement events in Lakewood.

Michael Waldner, an Amerigroup consultant, says “The objective of these events is for Amerigroup to hear first hand from the Lakewood community what’s important to the individual as it relates to the health coverage.”

“It’s encouraging to see the participation and interest from community members, and Amerigroup couldn’t be more interested in their feedback,” says Waldner. “Healthcare is serious business and they want to make sure that they’re covering all bases in terms of what matters most to Lakewood residents.”

Attendees were interested in understanding which doctors, medications, specialists, therapies, and hospitals are covered, as well as about the sign-up process.

“It was a great first program, and Amerigroup looks forward to many more events like these,” Waldner said.

  1. I attended and they cover all doctors my family uses. Only issue is chop which they dont cover as of yet, they said they’re in talks with them, but they cover Dupont which is also very good children’s hospital.

  3. Dupont is a top rated childrens hospital. I would imagine that chop will come through at the end with them since United is not covering them anymore, not sure when that takes effect.

  4. We should never need hospitals for our children but …Dupont hospital is no way comparable to CHOP. CHOP is a top notch hospital, and for those who have required CHOP they are amazing, beyond compare in all aspects.

  5. You may be right, I’m not familiar enough but as noted United is dropping chop so chop will not be covered by Medicaid period unless Amerigroup or another provider contracts w them. And i keep on hearing that they’re in conversation w them

Have you ever been or used DuPont hospital in Delaware? I have been using them for 6 years now. My son was born with a congenital defect and his Dr in DuPont is the top in the world for his issue. Dr. Richard Bowen is like no other Dr I know. He is humble, caring, devoted, & goes above and beyond for his patients. He was recommended as the top both by Shukey Berman & Dr Shanik. The hospital when above and beyond during all 4 surgeries my son went through. They went out of their way to accommodate us on shabbos. Hashem definitely sent us the right shaliachs with Dr Bowen and DuPont. By the way they are rated as a top pediatric hospital. I was so excited when DuPont and Amerigroup started to work together. I had to go for one visit to Chop before DuPont took Amerigroup and by far DuPont was quicker, more efficient, and friendlier.

  7. DuPont is definitely a top rated hospital in the country and the service is beyond what you could ever expect in CHOP.

Dear FYI I hope your child is doing well.

  8. To CZ,
Thank you for your good wishes. It’s a condition that is constant but not dangerous or life threatening. He will need a bunch more surgeries as he gets older. Bh he is a normal active 6 year old.
