Amazon Sellers Compliance issues #7 – by Ed Rosenberg (VIDEO)

ed-cj[VIDEO BELOW] As there are so many in our community that are selling on Amazon.com, I will continue to publish the most pressing issues that arise from our group so that everyone can best be informed.

Amazon seller’s policies are extremely rigid and they don’t allow much room for error. One minor mistake can get you shut out of your account and be catastrophic for your business.

There is no account too large for them to suspend and your definition of large and theirs is likely very different anyways.

The goal of these articles is to try our best to avoid compliance issues and best deal with them when we do get into trouble.

1) Very Important – perhaps the most important tip I ever gave. If you get a RO complaint (Rights owner) on an item, and they block the item, this must be dealt with the most extreme urgency even

if you don’t care about the item and you took down all similar items. The reason is if you get suspended because of anything anytime afterwards (even years later), for example “used as new”,

they will suspend you for that AND the RO complaint. At that point it will become an extremely complicated and messy situation and difficult to reinstate. An attorney can help in most cases.

2) Many Private Label sellers have had Amazon selling their own items and matching prices. There is still no solution but it affects many sellers and my advice is to hold and wait and see how

it shakes out even though I understand the significant loss of sales. Do not file a policy violation against Amazon even if SS recommends you do that. It so far has not worked.

3) Mysterious Chinese Reinstatement. If your account was suspended and received a Chinese message of reinstatement, you will with close to 100% certainly get RE-suspended. DO NOT SEND IN NEW FBA.

4) Important for Amazon .UK. Be careful not to enter in your UK address before your business address can be verified 100% because as soon as you change the address the business verification

process will start and if you can’t verify it will not pass (HT PF)

5) Ungating brands. It is indeed a fact that you will now have to pay to sell certain top brands, even if you are already selling them for a long time in some situations. It seems like

Amazon will charge 1k-2k for top 100 brands in the Consumer Electronics category for new sellers. The root of this “branding fee” is coming from product quality teams to weed out the bad guys.

Invoices will be needed as well.

6) When a rights owner sends a Letter of rescind, it needs to be from the email amazon noted in the rights owner complaint. The email they send should have the sellers store name,

email, etc in a very clear and concise manor. Some companies have rescinded yet Amazon has reported that they have not received the email. Also ask the Rights Owner to CC you when they

email [email protected] or [email protected]

7) The Automated feedback removal for bad seller feedback seems to be very forgiving lately. Try some for old feedback and it may get through. Contact US > Selling on Amazon -> Customer Orders.

Put in order number and then Feedback Removal.Do this especially if you have a low ODR.

8) If an item gets blocked by Seller Performance, DO NOT create a new listing against that blocked ASIN even if it allows you to. Your blocked ASIN has to get reinstated to sell again.

If you list as a new listing, especially if there was a “safety” complaint, you will likely get suspended.

9) If you are sending electronics to the UK you must follow these guidelines or you will risk a policy violation: “Please note that under the Regulations it is a criminal offence to supply an appliance which is not fitted with either (i) a UK 3-pin plug, or (ii) a non-UK plug that has been permanently fitted with a UK safety approved conversion plug which cannot be removed without use of a tool”. If you send an item, even with a standard converter, it is against policy as well so try to be careful
