As reported early this morning, a driver was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to flee an overturn accident.
Shortly before midnight last night, Toms River Police responded to Whitesville Road for the reports of an accident.
Upon arrival, police found trash and debris strewn across the roadway, the result of a violent accident.
According to one of the parties involved, the jeep had overturned at least one time before landing in the trees.
The other vehicle, allegedly driven by the drunk driver, landed on a front yard.
Video surveillance obtained by TLS (by Dave’s Landscaping) shows the driver getting out of his vehicle, and then getting back in it and driving away. His vehicle was reportedly not drivable, which apparently forced him to remain on scene.
Police administered a sobriety test on scene, and then took the driver into custody.
All injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening.
