All Kinds Of Kindness. Share The Burden. Ride The Wave

bcBy: L. Halevi. Get Ready To Ride The Wave! On July 12, 2016 the barometer of Chesed, kindness, will reach epic levels, unparalleled in Jewish history. This date has been designated a “Day of Chesed Giving” by the good folks at Charidy.com, and collectively, a group of organizations – with worthy causes that run the gamut from Bikur Cholim to Hachnosas Kallah, from Chesed Shel Emes to Tzorchei Shabbos and everything in between – will group together to raise a significant sum of money in a 24-hour period to alleviate some of the financial strain that Tzedakah organizations shoulder.

Lev Rochel Bikur Cholim of Lakewood, the organization that assists Cholim and their loved ones with many services virtually 24/7, is one of the organizations that will be participating in this campaign. The funds raised by this campaign have been earmarked specifically for a new fleet of special wheel-chair accessible transportation vehicles needed to transport Cholim and their families their families. Every year Bikur Cholim provides rides to thousands of people who need to get to and from hospitals and doctor appointments, and the need for new vehicles at this time is vital.

R’ Yehuda Kasirer, Executive Director of Lev Rochel Bikur Cholim of Lakewood, is very passionate about the organization which he runs with a dedicated group of indefatigable staff and volunteers. “365 days a year the staff and volunteers of Bikur Cholim carry the burden of the sick in our community” says Rabbi Kasirer, “ Their dedication and love for every Jew is unparalleled. They literally don’t cease to amaze me, and the feedback we get from patients about how we enhanced their lives and gave them Chizuk, is a prime source of Chizuk for all who have the Zechus to be involved with Bikur Cholim”

The “Day of Chesed Giving”, collectively using the Hashtag #AllKindsOfKindness, and more specifically for Bikur Cholim, using the Hashtags #ShareTheBurden and #RideTheWave – aims to garner community-wide support which will collectively be used to infuse Chesed organizations with the much needed Chizuk to carry on with their missions.

As with other Charidy campaigns, its success will be reliant on the generosity and involvement of the individual members of Jewish communities from around the world. Every dollar donated will be matched by 3 benevolent matchers, ensuring that the power of every donation is quadrupled.

  1. The sheer volume of Chessed that Bikur Cholim does in this town is not to be believed. I’m still on their email list, even tho I’m not active anymore, basically. A quiet day has 10 calls. From rides to food, to interpreters in the hospital, visitation. It’s not normal. Hope we all can give nicely to make this campaign a success.
