In the last year, Israel has seen a rapid increase in Americans making Aliyah. The numbers spiked to more than 4,200 last year, a 33% increase over pre-pandemic numbers. And still, organizations involved in the aliyah process project a 50% rise in the upcoming year.
The surge of olim who began to arrive from North America are often attracted to Israel due to instability in the United States. Additionally, the pandemic brought the realization that they can work remotely.
At the same time, those arriving in Israel face a seemingly unending stream of obstacles. Whether it’s bureaucracy or cultural differences, the challenges involved in a move are astounding. As more and more people are considering Aliyah, many of these challenges are alleviated by the existence of Chaim Vchessed, an organization providing assistance and guidance to the English speaking community in Eretz Yisrael. Chaim V’Chessed’s efforts are greatly easing life for English speakers and are clearly contributing to a better experience for Americans.
