Committeeman Akerman Meets With BOE Member And Members Of Public To Form 2011 Budget

akerman_tlsCommitteeman Isaac Akerman tells TLS he has met with several Board Of Education members, as well as several residents from the public with education experience, in order to find ways to cut the BOE budget even more and present it to the Township Committee members this week.

“We’re trying to find a way to cut the budget without compromising education”, Budget Committee Liaison Isaac Akerman tells TLS.

The budget, which failed in the election, asked for a tax levy of $70.3 million, but according to State Law it cannot be lowered by more than another $5-6 million, Akerman says.

Akerman hopes to present the new budget to the Committee this week, but says depending on his findings, there may not be any cuts.

  2. He met with Seitler and Silver from the board of rducation.Lets hope they can all come together with meanigful cuts that wont hurt the children and will help the tax payers.

  3. The taxpsyers always get (moderated) in the end. Why is there so much disinformation on these topics. Enough is enough. Tell the people that these new guys that the igud supported want to raise our taxes. The voters will feel duped.

  4. I work near Mr. Akerman. One thing I can say about him is that he’s a straight guy. He will do what he feels is right for the entire town.

  5. Look at the public schools first and then the private. this is a board for the public school children. How about taking a good look at how much money is spent on busing. If that many busee are needed, use the smaller ones because most of the big buses are empty half of the time.If you can’t consolidate runs use smaller ones,it would at least use less gas.money.
