Committeeman Isaac Akerman tells TLS he has met with several Board Of Education members, as well as several residents from the public with education experience, in order to find ways to cut the BOE budget even more and present it to the Township Committee members this week.
“We’re trying to find a way to cut the budget without compromising education”, Budget Committee Liaison Isaac Akerman tells TLS.
The budget, which failed in the election, asked for a tax levy of $70.3 million, but according to State Law it cannot be lowered by more than another $5-6 million, Akerman says.
Akerman hopes to present the new budget to the Committee this week, but says depending on his findings, there may not be any cuts.
Anyone with input, says Akerman, can email him directly at [email protected]. TLS.
