The existing Airport Road U-Turn on Route 70 Eastbound will be permanently shut. The project, which began this week, will allow for the building of the new Garden State Parkway Southbound Service Road entrance and exit ramps being constructed.
The current u-turn traffic will be re-directed to Shorrock Street.

That is just stupid…now I would have to go directly to the shorrock st u-turn where the traffic is already unbearable to get back town Route 70 in lakewood 2 miles away..Can’t they just make it a one lane turn entrance?? and let the through lane continue to the U Turn?
This project is a traffic nightmare
Route 70 will soon be like Route 17 in Bergen County. Loads of cars and trucks. Shorrock St will be a nightmare one the exit from the GSP is opened. Cars making the turn off Rte 70W will clash with cars coming off the GSP. If you want to make a U turn from Rte 70W to Rte 70E good luck with that. Let’s hope it works out better than it looks right now.
