An Air Quality Action Day has been declared by DEP for tomorrow, June 29, due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires.
“We urge sensitive individuals to limit strenuous activities, reduce the amount of time spent outdoors, and stay safe,” Gov. Murphy said today.
Governor Murphy also recommended that all air conditioners and fans be turned off on June 29, and that all windows be shut air tight to prevent sensitive individuals from breathing in any and all forms of air on June 29.
“If need be, use an oxygen machine with a good-fitting mask to get your air supply,” the governor added. “If you don’t have an oxygen machine, try to hold in your breath for as long as possible.”
“Children’s summer camps should be conducted remotely via video cams,” he said, “and swimming activities should be done via virtual reality machines.”
“Covid sounds like a picnick compared to these canadian wildfires,” Murphy opined, “hopefully this horror will soon be in our rearview mirror and we can soon return to our normal every day Covid routine, where standing 6 feet apart from one another in public, thoroughly washing our hands every 20 minutes with alcohol and anti bacterial soap, avoiding spending time with our loved ones, isolating ourselves in virtual solitary confinement, wearing facemasks 24/7 and vaccinating ourselves every few months are the only habits we need to maintain to live a perfectly sane and ordinary life.”
