Since the release of the 2010 Lakewood List, hundreds have been complaining about the release and many wanted to roll back to the previous verison as a result. The complaint? The company deleted hundreds of businesses which did not pay for the business listing. However, it seems the company realized their mistake and now wishes to correct the issue. The following is the email from the makers of the E-list: “When a business is not listed in the electronic LakewoodList, it hurts the Business and the Consumer. We are therefore offering you a 40% commission for getting an unlisted business to enlist in our upcoming April 15 update. Just have the business put your email address in the “recommend by” box, and when they pay their fee, you will get your 40% commission. You can also put in the order for them. It’s simple. Businesses that were already listed in the January release, should not register again. The cost of a listing starts at $17 and goes to $50, so you can earn up to $20 per listing. For more pricing details, please see our website at http://listpda.com. There is no limit on the number of commissions you can receive!
The 40% commission is only valid if the order is done online at http://listpda.com. If they order by email, phone or fax, there will be no commission. In addition, if they don’t pay right away, and we have to bill them, then the commission will only be 20%. We therefore suggest, that you offer to put in the registration yourself, so that you can be sure to earn the full commission. If they are paying by check, mail us the check as soon as possible. All commissions will be emailed within 30 days of payment.
Registration is scheduled to close by April 9th, so there is no time to lose. You can earn a nice bundle!”
Gantze shtikel Torah. one of the ethical issues in this town.
Lakewood list made a bad decision by removing business’s, now they are forcing business owners to put their ad on the Lakewood list. is this a joke?
i dont think it was a mistake.they simply didnt list businesses who were not willing to pay for the listing! they are just giving business owners another chance if they now wish to pay for a listing.
I’m assuming that anyone with the e-list has a smart phone. I don’t even look at the e-list. I simply google the business name and write 08701, and presto! The listing AND a map of the area pops up! Simple.
I declined to list my business. They’re just trying to trump up their own
The list does not work for android
I was more than happy to pay for a listing. I was not contacted, and never know when they will be coming out with a new list. The thing that got me very upset was that my business ong with many jewish businesses, very prominent ones were deleted. But wal mart target loews home depot etc were all on the list. I asked them why we were deleted and they were not. I was told that those were lidted as a service to the community. Is that the biggest kruma answer or what? My suggestion to you guys is to list all businesses in town. Send them a bill. Send another bill on the third bill write you will be delisted from the next list update if you do not pay. Then they can’t blame anyone but themselves. Because I was not contacted I was highly insulted as I am abig fa, of your list. I was even considering putting a header ad. But not now. Not unless you change your ways. I only hope if you don’t change your way of doing business that someone else makes a different list and does it the way I suggest. You will get a lot more customers that way.
Hope u change your mind for your own good.
Sincerely,
A local large business not on your list.
Forget it ill just google what I need.
I emailed them months ago advising them to abandon the idea because as a consumer I would be far less likely to use the list, and got a reply that they were considering my suggestion. Their loss!
Is there a reason why you expect something for free? Would you have such a reaction if the cheder delisted a nonpayer? They advertised this decision. They are offering a second chance. What is the problem
I am not gonna use the list this way. it’s a major hassle not having all the businesses on there. bad move, fix it
cant have the cake and eat it
imagine google charges customers for listing would they be where they are no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The very fact that they need to charge for plain listings proves that they are not a good marketing investment.
This is not a bircas shmuel! Why can’t they simply make a nice listing of everyone in Lakewood and sell it for a dollar or two? What’s with all the lomdishe krumkeit??!
It’s very simple nothing complicated, any banner ad is now worth much less because now I and many other don’t use the list anymore because it is worthless. They were making money from the banner ads and should have been happy with that. You guys cut your nose despite your face, common a simple listing is not worth the money you ask because if the person is looking for my business already anyways, he will find it one way or another you just make it more inconvenience for the user and if you have more users you can charge more for the banner which is a form of advertising.
The bottom line is I was never asked to pay for a listing. I would have. If you are going to do that. Make a mailing or make sure you get through. To every business. And don’t put in shoprite if you are leaving out npgs or farm fresh. Either you need to pay or not. Why favor shoprite? Because they would never pay? U guys are sad!
I suggested to them to have two options for the users; either pay $5 and get the full business listings or get a free version that only shows the businesses that opted in. Their response: We are trying very hard that there should be no major omissions.
Btw, to #10, I believe the cheder only charges to be listed in the yellow pages and not in the white pages
