Additional Facts Regarding Police-involved Shooting Released

lpd stop poss suspectThe Office of the Ocean County Prosecutor in continuing the investigation into the Toms River Police involved shooting on May 28 is providing the following additional facts. No further details will be released until the investigation is complete.

•Initial contact by two Toms River Police Officers and shooting occurred in front of 182 Old Orchard Road West, Toms River, N.J. The vehicle eluded police and was recovered in front of 1888 White Knoll Drive, Toms River, N.J. Driver (Kerr) fled on foot. Two other occupants of vehicle remained in vehicle and were immediately detained by police without incident.

• The vehicle was a 2014 Silver Ford Focus, bearing NJ registration (J82DVL).

•Individuals inside the vehicle, charges and bail information:

Driver – Shamar S. Kerr, 24, of Jackson, NJ was charged with Attempted Murder, Eluding, Possession of Heroin, Possesion with Intent to Distribute. Bail set at 500,000.00 cash only.

Front seat passenger – Candido A. Jackson, 26, of Toms River, NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute. Bail set at 200,000.00 cash only.

Rear seat passenger – Jessica N. Curcio, 23, of Toms River, NJ was charged with possession of Heroin, Possession with intent to distribute, bail set at 75,000.00 Full

•The two officers involved were transported to CommunityMedicalCenter in TomsRiver for evaluation and released early this morning. [TLS]

  2. Officer Chris Matlos, RIP, is still fresh in our memory and our hearts still ache with the loss of his beloved ones.

    Thank G-d that we did not have a similar tragedy this time.
