Statement from AAA: While many motorists do not want to pay higher gas taxes, they do want their roads and bridges in good shape and therefore, AAA applauds the Senate and Assembly for passing a long term, sustainable transportation funding plan that averts a safety and road maintenance crisis.
“Today’s vote will make our roads safer, alleviate congestion and put us in the path to an improved infrastructure system,” said Tracy Noble, spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “We hope New Jersey residents will ensure that these new gas tax revenues are protected and dedicated only for the use of transportation by voting YES on Ballot Question 2.”
New Jersey residents will turn their attention to ensuring that the gas tax revenues remain dedicated to their intended purpose of paying for our transportation infrastructure. This November, voting YES on Ballot Question 2 will restore the public’s trust in the Transportation Trust Fund by ensuring that our gas tax dollars cannot be diverted from transportation needs to patch other revenue shortfalls.

Sure we pay enough money in tolls already to keep support for road sustenence and fixing
We want good roads! We don’t the Gas Tax!!!! We Want the Politicians in Trenton to stop wasting our tax dollars!!!!
Why does it cost 4x per mile to fix a road in this state??
What does building a light rail system that no one will use have do due with our roads….. NOTHING!!! It is just jobs for the political cronies, this has to stop!!!
Remember the next time they are up for a vote….. vote them out!!!
Pretty sad that AAA has to remind us to look over our shoulder to watch our own lawmakers maybe call them lawbreakers if we can’t trust them.
