The following message was submitted to TLS by the Bridal G’mach in Deal:
Dear Lakewood,
Over the years, we’ve had the zechus to provide hundreds of kallahs, mothers, and sisters of the bride with beautiful gowns for their simchas — many of them right here from the Lakewood community. It’s our greatest honor to be part of your special day and to help lighten the financial burden that can come with a wedding.
But now, we must speak openly and honestly: while Lakewood has been one of our largest recipient communities, we have yet to see it become a partner in supporting this vital work.
Our gowns, our time, and our resources are made available thanks to the generosity of donors who believe that every kallah deserves to feel special — regardless of her financial circumstances. To continue this chesed and ensure we can keep lending gowns to those who turn to us, we need the Lakewood community to become part of the giving side as well.
If you or your family have ever borrowed from us — or even if you just believe in this mission — we ask you to please take a moment today to give back. Every donation helps us continue saying “yes” to the next kallah in need.
Join us in sustaining this beautiful mitzvah. The time has come.
With heartfelt thanks,
Everyone at Shelly Cohen Bridal Fund

What a beautiful Gmach! Always makes us feel so welcomed. Kol Hakavod. Hashem Should Bentch You Guys!
Thank you to this amazing Gmach!!!!! Such a life saver! You made my wedding so special!
you guys don’t get the message!!!!!!! she needs money!!!!!!
Just because they are thanking her doesn’t mean they don’t understand the message of the letter.
I can’t believe TLS allowed the “Name” of the above commenter to go through!
why are u surprised about my name!! i guess truth HURTS!!!
apparently you didn’t think 1 bit!!!
An insult can hurt even if its false.
If you have a grievance iwth a good city then you should do all you can to deal with that issue through private channels rather than airing it in public and causing shame and belittlement to what is good.
I wish you much success in deal with any bad that you may have experienced but please be respectful to a good city.
Hatzlocha and bracha
Excuse me but that comment was totally uncalled for. Please respect others as you would like to be respected.
The appeal has some valid points, just wondering… you’re accusing “Lakewood” of not supporting this cause. Did anyone ever ask? The request has a bit of an accusatory tone. Lakewood supports lots of good causes and I’m sure people would step up if they are asked nicely. And calling people dumb lkwdrs is not going to help people want to donate to your cause.
Absolutely true!
I was a bit surprised at the tone of the letter.
Most ppl that use the gemach don’t have much money and there is a significant charge for borrowing so who is this letter addressed to?
I’m sure a lot of people would be happy to support a gown gemach if they would be asked to contribute.
Bikers cholim of Lakewood should send out this message to deal
Deal is one of tghe biggest supporters of the Lakewood Bikur Cholim.
This is not a deal vs lakewood zach… Bikor cholim is a beutiful org. who both deal and lakewood support. and so is all the other many chesed orgs like this one giving out gorgeus gowns to brides who cant afford it. we are blessed to have them. Mi Kamcha Yisroel.
I live in Lakewood and have personally benifited from The Shelly Cohen Bridal Gemach!
Such a wonderful organazation, always so eager to help and make sure our wedding day is special in every way!!!
Lets keep the positivity here – lets all support them so they can continue their avodas hakodesh of supporting us by our simchas.
Thank you to THE SHELLY COHEN GEMACH for helping me in my time of need by lending me (AT NO CHARGE) a beutiful gown for my wedding!!!
I will def. be supporting you guys during your annual campaign. Thank you for everything you do and Beezras Hashem yisbarach you should continue to help klal yisrael. and everyone should donate to your annual fundrasiser.
Than you for giving us the schus to donate!
What is a name and address to which checks can be made out and sent. Not all of us want to use online mediums for donations.
