Mayor Rodrick submitted the following message to TLS.
Dear friends and neighbors,
As we gather to celebrate Hanukkah, I want to extend warm wishes to everyone in our community. This special festival reminds us of the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days, symbolizing not just the enduring nature of faith, but the eternal love of G-d, which never diminishes. Just as the lights of the menorah shine brightly, so too does the spirit of love and unity that binds us all together as one community.
During this season of light, it is essential to reflect on the importance of unity. Our diversity is our strength, and it is this very tapestry of differing backgrounds and beliefs that builds a stronger, more resilient community. In America, we are blessed with the freedom to express ourselves and worship as we choose—a cornerstone of what makes our nation the greatest on Earth.
Let us remember that with this freedom comes the responsibility to respect and care for one another. The spirit of Hanukkah teaches us the value of kindness and charity. As we exchange gifts and share in the joy of giving, let us commit to nurturing this spirit not just during the holidays, but each and every day of the year. Acts of generosity and goodwill help illuminate the lives of those around us, fostering a sense of belonging and care that we all need.
As we celebrate, let’s remember that we are all G-d’s children. May our actions reflect the values of compassion and understanding, making our community a better place for everyone—not just during this festive time, but throughout the entire year.
From my family to yours, I wish you a joyous and meaningful Hanukkah filled with light, love, and laughter. May the blessings of this season bring you peace and happiness.
Happy Hanukkah!
Sincerely,
Mayor Rodrick
