[PHOTO of officials meeting today] According to the latest reports from the National Weather Forecast and the predictions from the Department of Public Works, Lakewood could see a total accumulation of anywhere from 6-10 inches of snow this week. “Stock up and get your shovels ready”, says DPW Superintendent Tony Arrechi. “Some reports are saying up to 18 inches, but we don’t know yet”, he says. “We could end up with just some flurries too”.
The National Weather Forecast is reporting that snowfall could begin Tuesday evening and will last into Wednesday morning. There is a 90% Chance of snow on Tuesday evening.
The last snowfall predicted to be up to 4 inches turned out a total of about 2-3 inches.
The monster storm was predicted to be up to 18 inches, yet landed Lakewood with a 26 inch pile.
We will bring you the latest as the potential storm nears.
This afternoon, representatives of Hatzolah, EMS and OEM met at the OEM headquarters, (pictured), to discuss the pending storm. Officials are asking residents to keep the roads clear from vehicles and trash bins, making it possible for the DPW to clear the roads.
Should we be hit with heavy snow, TLS will bring you the latest updates from the DPW, including progress and schedules, through our new program.
As in the last storm, the TLS/DPW storm program will alert readers with an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) of the plows to each area, approximately 30 minutes prior to their arrival.
Those updates will be posted via web updates as well as through our News Alerts.
Hope the new mayor will do a better job
Don’t worry about my car just make sure the plows from the public work parking lot
hopefully all the agencies learned from there previous mistakes and will do better this time.
I think this is a great thing that all of the EMS agencies can come together and work to make sure we get the help needed.
steve did you learn the art of plowing yet
So why wasn’t my garbage picked up today? The street is clear, the recyclable truck came by twice! Now everyone on my block is going to leave their bins in the street and the plow won’t be able to do its job.
As in the last storm, the TLS/DPW storm program will alert readers with an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) of the plows to each area, approximately 30 minutes prior to their arrival.
Oops- change that to 30 DAYS prior to their arrival.
Will all of you be ever happy with anything anyone does for you? Everyone tries their very best and a THANK YOU goes a long way! May we share many more snow storms together. Take the opportunity for family time while your children are at home. The office report or “just one more thing sheifille” can wait.
Enough with asking residents to move their cars bins etc…
let them first say we will try to do a better job or we learned from our mistakes.
keep up the great work Stevie no plowing no school
START SALTING
i sure hope u dont think were getting less then a foot the latest info shows 18 plus for lakewood soo get ready now!! brooklyn will get slamed, maybe more! ys
Common sense people… if it’s snowing bring your cars off of the street and into your driveway, then if the DPW really does a bad job then it’s on their shoulders alone. Stop blaming DPW and take responsibility for your own actions. If there are cars on the street then DPW can’t get in and out of your neighborhood quickly and effectively. Or maybe the cops should just write tickets to everyone who leaves their cars in the roadway. There is an ordinance that all vehicles must be removed during snow removal.
Number 7, what’s ur name? I think there’s only 1 person in town with that name, & I don’t believe that its u. So don’t plagerize people’s names, & I don’t think he’d b happy 2 know people would use his name. From a Concerned friend. thnx
Will chaveirim be out in full force again they r the greatest
Don’t even think of cancelling mid-winter break due to to all the snow days. You are allowed a certain amount of snow days. Blame the DPW for not clearing the roads properly and for not having school due to road conditions. But don’t take away our reg. vacation time!!!!
I drove around in Lakewood yesterday. One thing I noticed – MOST SIDEWALKS ARE NOT SHOVELED OFF. There is an ordinance that states you MUST clean off your sidewalks within so many hours after the snow stops. That’s just another ordinance the town passed but DOES NOT ENFORCE. WHY NOT????????
Hey #16 what’s that nonsense you’re writing???
We haven’t even had the snow yet and already your blaming the DPW????
For what???
Learn to be a mentsch (or at least pretend to be one if you can’t)!
GET OFF MY BLOGGGG…..
Let’s hope Lakewood learned from their mistakes and will plow early on in the storm and keep on plowing the whole time. Especially side streets who were neglected last storm, should be dealt with correctly this time, and be plowed right away and not just enough room for a one way, but enough room for 2 cars like a normal street so we all don’t get our cars stuck like last time. Thank you! 🙂
WHY OH WHY are there still areas on the streets that still haven’t been plowed when we are about 2 weeks after the last storm.
like ridge ave near shoshana and dena 2 vehicles can hardly get by.
Maybe before this new storm someone from the public works should travel all of the streets to make sure that things are clear and ready for the new storm
I opologize ‘PLOWED WELL’ not plowed.
in front of 250 ridge ave

Is Cookie better? I made the name up. What’s it any different than using Buff. There are only a few(well quite a few I guess) in Lakewood. I assume you’re one of them seeing the time you posted your comment.
It’s SNOW! Get over it.
My street was just SALTED!!!!!!!
I saw the tractors were out today, picking up the piles of snow on the sides of the roads. That’s very good, now cars can park, drive etc. But everyone is wondering why it took two weeks to think of this great idea. Is it coming from our new mayor???
sorry if I offended u. I was just stating that there is only 1 person in the WHOLE JEWISH WORLD that I know has that name, & that it’s not me or U! bec. he’s not the type to ever post on this news site/blog. that’s all. no big.
So why did I get TOSed for mentioning that the sidewalks in Lakewood are not being shoveled per the township ordinance? Who did I offend?
