4th Of July Fireworks In Lakewood To Take Place July 1st, To Save Money

4thofJulyIn an effort to save money for the Lakewood township, the annual July 4th Fireworks will be taking place on July 1st this year, TLS has learned. “The fact that it will be taking place on an off day, will save the Township money” says Mayor Steven Langert. “We’re paying less and were getting more Fireworks too” he said. The Fireworks will be taking place on Thursday evening of July 1st.

  1. Wow,

Happy July 1st Lakewood, How exciting and patriotic! Might as well save all the money and watch the blueclaws fireworks for free from New Hampshire Avenue! Unbelievable. If we have to save that much money, just cancel the fireworks, or start collecting taxes. We can all go to the fireworks on the Toms River, what a wonderful show that is. Thanks again for caring so much to take away AMERICAS BIRTHDAY!

  2. BH tleast i wont have to go home and i could celebrate canada right here in lakewood. Thanx so much Steven Langert for arranging this.

  3. In this recession people are cutting down on non essential items. Why can’t our elected officials that are supposed to represent us, also cut out this waste of money?

  4. why dont we cut it entirely why waste taxpayer dollars if you want to watch a nice one go to macys in manhattonn or watch it online

  5. I would like to know how much it will actually save the township for having them during the week on a Thursday rather than on a Sunday July 4th. You still have to pay for the police & crowd control detail, fire marshall’s duty time, the fireworks company to come set up, the issue of the large amount of traffic that will be coming through town during that time. I would just like to know the difference…if its a more than $10k its like a drop in the bucket. If its less than that..July 4th should be held on the date. I guess its come to the fact that we as citizens of Lakewood do not get a say in when we should have it.

  6. I can’t imagine it saves too much money to make a dent. I think july 4th is the holiday and that’s when it should be. Or just not have it at all. I would like to know exactly how much is saved by this farkrumte mehalach. And by the way it will be in middle of night seder so I can’t watch anyway but saturday night would work great for me

  7. WOW 25K SAVINGS!!!!!!!

    thats enough money.

although I think it shoudl be July 4th if we dont have the money then lets just cut it,

we need to understand that this town serivces so many people who dont pay taxes as they are not legally here so why pay.

the amount of money saved from not doing fireworks could help pay for addtional plowing or garbage pickup ,,,,,,another police officer????

its not going to get better for awhile- a few years- so we all better start and help cut corners.

  8. Why doesn’t the town sell sponorship for the fireworks display? Why are we taxpayers paying for this? Macy’s sponsor’s NYC… Maybe the Blueclaws want to sponsor Lakewood’s display? We need to think like a business.
