Not to try and take away from this grave and terrible situation, nor to pin blame on anyone, but was the parent & kids (or even just the parent) wearing reflectors?

#6: It does imply blame. Start a new post for safety precautions.

As a side topic, can anybody tell me whose bright idea it was to put crosswalks at the intersections of RT 9 that don’t have lights?. It’s a 4 lane state highway where people drive fast, do you think anybody will stop? How long before someone gets seriously hurt?

It was the states’s idea. Township officials have no control over Rt 9. Nobody ever accused state officials of thinking with their heads.

Much of the “foot” traffic occurs in areas where the speed limit is 35 MPH – That’s far from “high speeds.”

Hatzolah is amazing. Really, when are we having our Hatzolah appreciation Day ? Especially for the Super Vols, guys like R’ Avi Braude, L12 & Yitzy Tesser, L40, who work locally and respond to calls day & night, every day & every night. We can do it in my house. I’ll get the food from Deli West, y’know, L2 ! Dudi
