  1. Whenever I read of another mva on the scoop regardless of the circumtances and who is to blame (and sadly it’s all too often) it always gives us a reminder of how we need rachmei shomayim every second and we need the RBSO to keep us safe and we have to ask Him to. It’s without a doubt that part of the reason the scoop posts all these mvas is not just that it makes for a good story but also we should take a lesson from them and I think one lesson that can be learned is how to always appreciate H-shems infinate kindness. Keep safe out there.

  2. If police start ticketing for aggressive driving it will just cause people to complain about that!
Slow down, pay attention, and Hang UP the phones!!

  3. I hope everyone will be okay!

It is almost never an “accident”. Unless there was a mechanical malfunction, such as brakes failing, steering wheel locking up etc. someone DID something wrong, such as running a stop sign, speeding, not watching the road, etc.

It’s really a shame, we are so developed and yet we constanly injure ourselves due to stupid driving.

I have a 20 gallon fish tank with 30 fish and never once do I ever see two fish hit each other, and never once do I see a fish swim into a wall. I see birds and squirels outside, and never once do I witness a collision between them. Why?

We have evolved into intelligent human beings and yet we run stop signs, speed, text while driving and other things that lead to these senseless and almost always preventable accidents.

  4. The driving in this town is becoming more and more insane.

Part of t he problem is that 5,000 men drive every morning AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, to three different babysitters, and then to Yeshiva. AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, 500 busses are driving all over town, and AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, another 5,000 women are driving to work.

And, there is no traffic light at corner Martin Luther – Pine St, Williams – James, Williams – Prospect, and Rt 9 is one huge parking lot, every development along Rt 9 has huge lines waiting to make left turns with an accident waiting to happen, and I can go on and on.

This is causing people lots of stress, and makes people drive like wackos.

People have forgotten what it means to drive calmly, and to patiently wait for the person in front of you to make the turn, or to patiently wait for the other person by the stop signs.

The only possible thing that I can think of is to have the police aggressively ticket all drivers who drive unsafely. It is getting out of control.

  5. You brought up valid points and while I agree with you that the police should ticket aggressive driving, it will not solve all the problems.

The city is already overdeveloped with developments that do not have adequate streets so there is not much of a chance in improving the situation that much ( short of demolishing some of the housing). The question is why the “I controlled growth” is not controlled by the planning board. One example is the new development under construction off of Finchly, which is set to have 30 houses. Can Finchly and Rt 9 handle it???? I don’t need to answer that, the answer is obvious to all who live in the area.

  6. Yesterday I had a lady driving towards me in my lane on the phone. I almost felt as if I was in the wrong lane. Thank G-d for a horn, she had no idea why I honked!

  7. As many have said in this story and others before it and I’m sure after it the driving in Lakewood is way out of control. The growth of population is way out of control. There’s not much more to it then that.

  8. How can you say to daven and everything will be good? Drive safely, pay attention, and don’t talk on cell phones and then you may be good. Accidents are too frequent in this town to not take all precautions for your safety, your families safety and the safety of others.

  9. Yea ~ its always the other guys fault ,there is no information here as to how the accident was caused ,so for those making things up stop already !!!

  10. no pd shouldnt be busy ticketing
let them get out of there cars and start directing traffic in this town or PUT MORE LIGHTS UP ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. a horse ran out in front of the ups truck after it was scared by a squirrel that bumped into a fish driving on the wrong side of the road without a reflector belt and talking on the phone. whew!

  12. Hey, why bother having a comment section if you sensor every comment that blasts your community, especially when they are at fault. But you print the stupid ones that make no sense…………I see this is loosing real readers as your the sensor police.

  13. To # 20.

We apologize for your frustration. In fact, some comments pointing fingers as to who was at fault – Jewish or non-Jewish- which were mistakenly allowed through by our moderators, were deleted. We’ll let the police decide who was at fault. If you, or anyone else was a witness to scene, we encourage you to contact the police. Thank you for understanding.

  14. I drive my child to and from school every day from Jackson to lakewood and all I can say is that its the scariest part of my commute. No one stops at stop signs, people blow thru red lights and in the middle of all that, you have boys practically in the middle of the street trying to hitch rides, its very scary out there.
