3 Effective Natural Remedies for Pain Relief

Pain is a serious inconvenience. When it happens to you, perhaps your first thought is to grab a pill that can make the pain vanish.

Before you reach for a painkiller, you should be aware that most pain-relieving medications have unwanted side effects. For example, Ibuprofen-based drugs put you at increased risk for heart attacks. It’s also important to be aware that long term use of some painkillers may result in addiction.

There are natural painkillers that are every bit as effective as popular over-the-counter pain medications; however, they tend to have fewer side effects. These natural remedies are worth your consideration. The following are 3 effective natural remedies for pain relief:

1.Ginger

Ginger is a broadly available spice that can be used to treat pain resulting from a wide variety of issues:

  • Research has revealed that ginger powder is as effective for relieving migraine pain as the commonly used migraine remedy known as Sumatriptan.

  • Researchers have determined that ginger can help to reduce the painful inflammation brought about by arthritis.

  • Ginger can relieve the discomfort resulting from nausea; it’s effective against various types of nausea including motion sickness and pregnancy-induced morning sickness.

  • Ginger may help to reduce muscle pain resulting from vigorous exercise.

  • According to research published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, ginger is as effective as Ibuprofen for relieving the pain associated with women’s menstrual cramps.

Ginger’s pain relieving power lies in its roots. Raw ginger appears to be slightly more effective for pain relief than heat-treated ginger is, but the difference is so slight as to be almost negligible.

2.CBD

CBD is another versatile substance that offers a broad variety of pain relief applications:

  • One group of researchers determined that topically-applied CBD is an effective way to relieve pain and reduce inflammation resulting from arthritis.

  • Another group of researchers found that CBD can help Multiple Sclerosis patients to make a significant improvement in spasticity symptoms.

  • Oral CBD was found to effectively combat nausea and vomiting resulting from chemotherapy treatments given to cancer patients.

  • Two different studies indicated that administration of cannabis flowers resulted in noticeable levels of pain reduction for the study subjects.

The authors of these studies have been largely consistent in suggesting that CBD has demonstrated modest levels of pain relief. However, many have noted that more research is needed to gain a better understanding of CBD’s full potential.

CBD is different from medical marijuana; one of the most significant differences is that CBD doesn’t cause you to get “high”.

If you’d like to try CBD for yourself, it’s advisable to use a top shelf hemp flower product that’s grown organically and made available without any harmful additives.

3.Cloves

Cloves are typically used for flavoring pumpkin pies, cider drinks, teas and other desserts and beverages — but they also have pain relieving potential:

  • One group of researchers examined whether cloves could be used as a topical anesthetic. They concluded that cloves were similar to benzocaine in their ability to help patients manage pain.

  • Because of their anesthetic properties, cloves and clove oil can be effective for relieving the pain resulting from toothaches.

Don’t Just Manage Your Pain; Get a Proper Diagnosis

When you experience pain, it’s your body’s way of alerting you to the fact that something is wrong. If you aren’t sure what’s causing the pain, it’s advisable to speak with your doctor to arrive at a diagnosis. These natural remedies, like over-the-counter painkillers, will not typically solve whatever underlying issues are causing your pain. It is therefore beneficial to get an accurate diagnosis from your doctor, along with advice on what to do to actually solve the underlying issues that are causing you pain.

In the meanwhile, the above-mentioned natural remedies may be helpful to you for alleviating the pain so you can get on with your life.
