Just fyi Store branded products are assumingly not supplied by their distributor..
If I’m understanding what you’re saying and that’s a very difficult thing to do, you have no idea what you’re talking about!
It happens to be that the store branded items are supplied through the distributor. Take Stop & Shop for example, their in house brand comes to the stores via the C&S Warehouse. Ahold USA doesn’t have warehouses full of product waiting to go to the Stop & Shop / Giant branded stores.
Personally, for many reasons, I don’t understand why we are trying to out frum everyone else including ourselves. If somebody owns chometz on Pesach, which they don’t because they have sold their portion of the company just like we sell our chometz, because of a g’zayara drabonon it’s assur to THEM and they can’t have benefit from it. The consumer is allowed to have the benefit especially if we have no direct correlation to the distributor. We don’t know who it is. We don’t deal with them. We walk into the supermarket and buy what we want. We have nothing to do with them.
I believe the organizations are twisting and turning a psak from Rav Soleveitchik ztl to make it work for them.
People need to do their research and ask their LOR all the right questions.
By the way, even according to those who say you purchase these items in these stores until the new supply is in, all say that it’s only for chometz gamur and not anything else such as kitnios, non chometz, or even taruvos.
It’s time for the consumer to really educate themselves about this!
