In yet another change to Downtown, 1st Street will once again be changed – this time to a two-way street. The street was changed from a one-way Westbound to a one-way Eastbound nearly three months ago, but store-owners in the area say they were inconvenienced by the change and fought it.
Store-owners on Second Street had a petition signed against the one-way saying it was bad for business since motorists coming down Second Street would have to go to Route 88 before being able to come back around to Second Street.
At this evening’s Township Committee meeting, a second reading was voted on to make the change. TLS.
What about the good of the vast majority of tax payers who just want to get by without the congestion? Why is everything good in this town ruined by small groups of special interests?
The economy is your special interest, too. Face it: When businesses suffer, all of us do. Many of the traffic pattern and road striping changes have helped improve Lakewood’s traffic flow. Perhaps with time more ideas will be generated for further improvements…
Most people that go down first street are only there because of the stores!
What about that drive by mail box, which was very convenient. Will that be moved over to the other side of the street, so drivers could once again drive by and put mail into the box.
ARE you serious?? Another traffic change?? They should have just left it the way it was…
too many people that don’t know how to drive in downtown lakewood
also get off your cell phones, stop double parking and pay attention
you hold your life in your hands going down clifton ave. It should be closed down, I bet the accidents down there are enormous. No one should drive down clifton ave, avoid it at all costs, go around……..
