16-year-old Driver Killed by 18-year-old Driver in Jackson; Two Others Injured

A tragic crash in Jackson Township claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy last week and left two other teens with minor injuries.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reports that on Wednesday evening, October 8, at around 5:55 p.m., Jackson Police responded to East Veterans Highway near West Lake Court following reports of a serious collision.

Investigators determined that an 18-year-old female was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 eastbound with a passenger when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and struck a 2009 Nissan Altima head-on. The Nissan was driven by a 16-year-old male.

The teen driver of the Nissan was transported to Monmouth Medical Center–Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The driver and passenger of the Ford were also taken to the same hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit–Vehicular Homicide Squad and the Jackson Township Police Department.

May his soul rest in peace! Sorry for the loss. This is devastating for Jackson High where he was a student. I was touched when I passed by the scene and saw his friends gathered in memory and prayer for many days after at the scene of the accident.

May his memory be blessed.
