Parents of young teens should take note of the following incident.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on September 20, Spencer Caudle, 36, of Prairieville, Louisiana, was sentenced by the Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C., to seven years New Jersey State Prison relative to his guilty plea to Sexual Assault in connection with an incident that occurred in Toms River on May 27, 2023. Caudle will also be subject to the terms of Megan’s Law, Nicole’s Law – which permanently prohibits him from having any contact with his victim, and Parole Supervision for Life. Caudle pled guilty to the charge before Judge Rahill on April 2, 2024.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau revealed that on May 27, 2023, Caudle traveled from Louisiana to the Toms River area and had contact with a 14 year-old victim. Caudle had been communicating with the victim through a messenger application.
Continuing investigation revealed that Caudle planned on returning to the area to have sexual contact with the victim again. On June 16, 2023, Caudle flew from New Orleans, Louisiana to Newark Liberty International Airport, where he was taken into custody by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, United States Department of Homeland Security, and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department. Caudle was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he has been lodged since that date.
Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Mara Brater who handled the case on behalf of the State, and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Freehold Township Police Department, United States Department of Homeland Security, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, and United States Air Marshals Service, for their combined and collective efforts in connection with this investigation leading to Caudle’s guilty plea and now his state prison sentence.
