PHOTOS: A three vehicle crash on Route 9 left three injured including one critically, Sergeant Frank Work of LPD’s Traffic & Safety division confirms to TLS.
The crash happened just before 2:00 PM this afternoon on Route 9 and Finchley when a pickup truck believed to be driven by a man under the influence, crashed into another vehicle, which in turn crashed into a third vehicle.
Multiple emergency personnel responded to the scene and had to extricate the driver of one of the vehicles, Work said. The patient was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
The driver, believed to be under the influence of drugs, and believed to have caused the three-vehicle accident, was transported by EMS to Kimball Medical Center with minor injuries. He will be undergoing blood tests in the Hospital, Work said.
The third driver was also taken to Kimball Medical Center with minor injuries.
A passenger was treated at the scene and released.
The crash scene – which was cleared a short time ago – is being investigated by the Lakewood’s Traffic & Safety division. TLS-89/TLS-CCP.
whats new …..
i was there today @ 4.30 it was bad
they need more traffac lights on rt 9 already !
way to go ems for getting the pt out.
They need a light at Finchley and 9, bad,
sure let’s put up traffic lights on every corner- that will definitely make people drive safer and keep them from driving on drugs. duh..
Was there today it looked bad, I hope the guy makes it. By the way the guy who was on drugs walked out totally fine the other guy who was driving safely is in critical cond.
“…the guy who was on drugs walked out totally fine the other guy who was driving safely is in critical cond…”
Same thing happens to drunks. Next time I drive in Lakewood I will pop some pills and a half bottle of Scotch. No sense getting hurt in an accident 🙂
Well the guy the cut out of the car is doing ok he got some head injuries but otherwise he fine
Yes the guy that was in the white car along with his passenger sustained head injuries. The one in critical seems fine now but only time will tell. He us up talking still out of it. Thank you to all who worked on him on the ground waiting for the chopper. Thank you for saving my father in law and my uncle in law. Or whole family thanks you.
#5 – improving intersections with lights, etc. will help a lot. Don’t discount that. People take way more dangerous chances at intersections without lights. Try to make a right onto Rt 9 S/River Ave. from Oak St. at the wrong time of day and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Rather, make that a left. A right is hard enough, but a left is almost like attempted suicide.
217, thanks for helping!
