Several thousand JCP&L customers in Ocean and Monmouth Counties – including in Lakewood, Howell, Jackson and Toms River – are without power this afternoon.
The outage is stated to be due to inclement weather.
Multiple traffic lights on the east side of Lakewood are out as well.
No ETA yet on restoration.

In a recent Q&A with mayor, he said that they are working on a new transfer station to brnig more power to Lakewood, and certain other details about automated switches that can reroute the grid around here if one pole fails.
Next time, make sure you expand the electric grid, before adding over 25 thousands new houses

Unable to Provide Sufficient Electricity to Lakewood, JCP&L Hiring Amish Employees To Wean Lakewood Residents Off of Electric Power
JCP&L announced today that it is abandoning all efforts to provide electric power to Lakewood Township, and that the company, instead, will hire thousands of Amish employees to help wean Lakewood residents off of electricity and onto alternative sources of power, like triple-A batteries, water mills and propane gas.
“Try as we might, we just can’t seem to get the electric power to work in Lakewood,” JCP&L said in a statement on Monday, “hence, we are abandoning the electric power route and hiring thousands of Amish employees who will train Lakewood residents to survive without electricity by means of triple-A battery power, water mill power and propane gas.”
Shortly after JCP&L released its statement, the Duracell Battery company released a statement of its own congratulating JCP&L on its decision and announcing that Duracell will soon be providing Lakewood Township with the bulk of its energy needs, via a monthly recurring shipment of 50 billion triple-A batteries.
“We’re extremely proud to be Lakewood’s sole provider of Triple-A battery power!” Duracell said in the statement.
However, some Lakewood residents reacted negatively to the JCP&L announcement, including longtime resident Shimon Chashmali, who expressed concerns about using water mills as sources of energy for his home.
“If all of that water enters my home, who’s gonna wet-vacuum the floors?” Mr. Chashmali asked. “Not me, that’s for sure!”
Lakewood resident, Oscar Mabulstein, opined: “My water utility bills are already going through the roof! I wonder how high my monthly water-mill bills are going to be?! Sheesh!”
