A local talented bachur has completed an incredible project, creating a picture of Rav Chaim Kanievsky ZT”L using approximately 1,500 Rubik’s Cubes.
The boy’s father tells TLS his son decided to take on the unique project, working on it a little bit each day during bein hasdarim over the past few months.
After finally completing the picture, the impressive creation is now being glued onto a wooden board to be framed.

I looked it up:
A standard Rubik’s Cube consists of 26 small cubes, often referred to as “cubies” or “cubelets”. These small cubes rotate around a central axis, allowing the puzzle to be manipulated. (The two outer ones have 9, and the center one has 8.) There are bigger ones with more too. For a regular size, 1,500 cubletes comes out to about 57 cubes. You can get a bulk pack of 100 for $40. I don’t know if you can get one with the cubes already taken apart (unless taking them apart is part of the fun!:).
I don’t understand what you’re saying, all I know is it says he used 1,500 Rubik’s Cubes, and a regular Rubik’s Cube costs about $10. Doesn’t say and doesn’t look like he took them apart, so comes out to about 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH!
I thought he took apart an RK and used each square separately, but it seems people do it by using whole RKs, and turning them to get the desired effect. If he used 1,500 – meaning 26-cublet RKs, even if they’re $4 a piece from a bulk pack, that would come out to $6,000, only something for millionaires. So either he is a millionaire – and this is the art his children do, or he took apart an RK – so you get 26 pieces from each (or more from a bigger one). The bulk-pack is 100 26-cube RKs, if so, he used a little more than half of a bulk pack that cost $40.
HE DIDN’T TAKE THEM APART. HE USED 1500 26 PC RK’S.
They are mini cubes, and he could get 1500 for around $500

Very cool indeed! I never understood how this stuff is done. I don’t even know how to finish one Rubik’s cube, and this kid could make a whole masterpiece (I assume without instructions) using 1,500 Rubik’s cubes, each one set up perfectly!

😳😳😳 whoever this kid is, HE’S HIRED! Not yet sure for what, but he’s hired. That’s genuine creativity, patience, talent, attention to detail, innovative, intuitive, perseverance, thoroughness, meticulous. Character and attributes that an AI generation is lacking.
He’s hired to make it available to others. People are always looking for nice things, and if the puzzle is to turn the cubes to the right setting, it’s an art. Even if it costs $500 – or more for some profit, there are people who would pay it, and it can be a mitzvah to make it available. It can be in seforim stores, or start with an ad, and when people order, you’ll order the cubes. Put all the components together and instructions. Have a few different pictures of gedolim (and of Kosel and of BHM”K of course, as we mentioned in another comment!:) You can also offer to set up a diagram of a photo of a relative etc.

A fellow once came to R’ Chaim that is having difficulties in parnassa. R’ Chayim asked him what he does and he said he is an artist and paints pictures. R’ Chayim said to paint pict of Bais Hamikdash. A year later, he asked gabbai to bring him back in for bracha, as parnassa was still difficult. Gabbai said ‘I faintly remember you, and R’ Chaim said to paint BHM”K, did you do that? He said ‘no, I didn’t get around to it, but I want another bracha!’. Lesson is that listening to Daas Torah is greatest bracha.
So, if painting pict of BHM”K is segula for parnassa, making pict of R’ Chaim is segula to be posted on Scoop!:)

Can the two sweethearts who gave this a thumbs-down please, for Heaven’s sake, explain themselves? There are indeed bulk packs available on Amazon. Perhaps frum stores will take them in too, if this becomes popular. (As of course, we try to order from frum stores.)
To answer some others’ (and my!) questions, it seems – from picts there on Amazon, that people don’t take apart the RKs, they turn them to get the perfect effect/design/color. When you glue them down, you’ll have three “layers” at the side by the wall – a nice thick “painting”. So, it seems the accomplishment is more the turning of the RKs; as someone mentioned, and as I figured in a comment, there are computer programs that tell you how to set each one. Still, it takes time and patience to turn them to get the perfect effect.

It’s called using a Rubik’s Cube mosaic maker. You upload a picture, and it tells you where to put them. My son made one as well of the Chofetz Chaim. its a lot of work, but if you know how to do rubiks cube not that hard.
Wow! I have never heard of a Rubik’s cube mosaic maker before but that looks amazing! How many Rubik’s cubes did he use to make that?
