Please explain how McAuliffe school was closed and sold for 40 million dollars last year (over 10 million below the asking price), Jackson Memorial was combined with Liberty and there’s lower enrollment overall and yet there is a over 6 million dollar increase in school taxes. A windfall of cash, a consolidation of services and lower enrollment should at the least have a flat tax rate. To note, Lakewood also went for something like an additional 5% increase on top of the 2% they are allowed and the state denied it.
That’s an excellent question for the school board, which is a completely different entity than the mayor and township council. You can contact them directly and (hopefully) they can explain their budget as clearly as the municipality was able to explain theirs.
