A dashcam video obtained by TLS captured the moment a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction suddenly swerved into the path of a school bus, slamming into the rear wheels of the bus.
The incident happened shortly before 4:00 PM on Cross Street.
The driver of the vehicle was hospitalized following the crash with injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles.
Thankfully, no students were onboard.

All private and all public schools should have them. Install LED lighting on all streets; eliminate old light fixtures and use better LED lighting!!! More traffic lights and wider roads. Route 9: there is no improvement on Route 9; still bad!!! Why is Lakewood Government being so bad? I know how to fix this township better now. The Lakewood government is being lazy, not putting meters back, eliminating free parking for everyone now, and bringing back parking authorities to control illegal parking activities across the entire township, making this township worse. We need a crackdown and an end to dangerous driving in this township. Parking on sidewalks and curbsides. What is this township doing ??? Where is this Lakewood government that got voted in??? What is your money going into your pocket instead of taking better care of the township?
The cops won’t write tickets because they are afraid that everyone in this town will fight the ticket in court, and they don’t want to have to show up in court. That’s why we need the state police here everyday.
The cops don’t show up in court, even when they write a ticket.
So why does EVERY cop here in Brooklyn ALWAYS show up in court to make sure Orthodox Jews get punished?!
Respectfully, it’s their poor driving skills that brought the ticketing offers to court in the first place.
I’m with you on rt 9. But that’s in the state’s court – not the township. They could have widened it 30 years ago and refused.

It’s glaringly obvious that the driver was trying to overtake the vehicle ahead of him & exercised poor judgment in the process.

Breaking News: Lakewood Bus Tries Jumping Over Car To Escape Traffic
This afternoon after what seemed like a pretty calm day for the roads (because most people were stuck at home watching their kids who are waiting to start school sometime next yoivel) a bus driver from a reputable bus company was facing a challenge. On one hand he wanted to get to his destination but on the other hand he simply couldn’t due to the overwhelming traffic on cross street (thanks to the 6 new yeshivos that opened up on trailers off cross/not including the day cares). So instead he thought of an idea. And the rest is history as they say.
at the press conference which was held via zoom to accommodate Covid-19, the streets commissioner praised our heroic car drivers for not texting, eating, driving and WhatsApping at the same time. “Choose max 2 at a time!” She said.
local media was there due to an earlier accident in the day so they got a good view. Some are saying it’s more dangerous to drive than to ski. Which is not like my 7th grade rebbe who holds skiing is asur (See Mid-winter addition)

It’s terrible how people make assumptions from a video clip just to put someone else down. If all the commenters would be drivers in Lakewood it would be a much safer place… Oh wait a minute many of them are…Hmmm…
Isn’t that what you say now days, “I had a medical incident”, so you don’t get a ticket for distracted driving!

She said ‘I know the driver’. Whether that’s true or not, who knows, but once she said that – that she knows her, it makes sense what she’s saying is true
So you’re saying she can clearly identify the driver that caused the accident, Lakewood Yid. She must have amazing vision!
The police don’t have to write the vehicles driver any tickets. The school bus driver or a bus co rep have the legal right to go down to the police station and write that driver enough tickets to suspend his or her drivers license:
Crossing a double yellow line = points
Tailgating = points
Wreckless Driving = points
Causing an accident = points
Possible illegal use of cellphone = points
I would bet that driver already has points, but this accident alone carries more than enough points to get he or she suspended.
But these drivers: they’re constantly suspended and they’re still on the road. Not just Lakewood, it’s even worse in some other towns.
Can we give the driver the benefit of a doubt, please? Maybe a medical episode, a fly distracting them, sun in their eyes? If none of the above, then issues a summons for reckless driving.
Im going to say person was on the phone. It’s completely lawless in Lakewood when it comes to driving, parking illegally, always on the phone. And it keeps getting worse and worse
