By: Yosef Rapaport. A multi-state delegation of approximately 200 men and women, representing a wide spectrum of Agudath Israel activists and community leaders from across the United States, is set to visit the halls of power in Washington DC this coming Thursday July 25.
The day long mission, organized by Agudath Israel’s Washington Office, under the leadership of Rabbi Abba Cohen, will feature visits to the US Department of Treasury, US Senate and the White House. During these sessions, delegates will hear from – and have a chance to interact with – elected officials and senior policy makers in regard to issues of importance to the Orthodox Jewish community.
Delegates are expected to hear about such hot button issues as: Israel and the turmoil in the Middle East, Global Terrorism and Anti-Semitism, Religious Freedom, Education, the Social Safety Net – including Food Security, Housing and Immigration Reform.
According to Chaskel Bennett –one of the delegates joining the mission and a member of the Board of Trustees of Agudath Israel of America, the mission “is a show of unity, diversity and strength and elected officials immediately recognize that the Orthodox Jewish community is professional and knowledgeable in its approach to government advocacy.”
“The dividends pay off every day as Agudah activists continue the painstaking work in the trenches, out of the eye of the public, on behalf of the broader Jewish community.” [TLS]
