New Special Police Officers Hit The Roads

Three recently hired Special – Class 2 Police Officers, have hit the roads in Lakewood. Tyler DiStefano (L), Rob MacFARLANE (C), and StephenMeyer have joined the Lakewood Police force after working with the Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant Police Departments.

After graduating in May, the officers joined the Shore towns as Summer interns due to the heavier Summer population at the Shore.

Now in Lakewood, the officers are mainly placed as Court Officers, to free up officers for the roads. Other times, the officers are driving around with full-time officers.

Police Chief Rob Lawson said the Department is also looking to hire several full-time officers over the next few months, to replace the senior officers retiring. TLS.

That would be great, just have them take the NJ Civil Service Test, be prepared to pass rigorous physical and psychological testing then endure 27 weeks of 12 hour days at the finest police academy in the state. Oh yes and shave their heads, march, wear uniforms, and work on weekends, as the academy has late friday and saturday classes as well. But welcome all who can endure.

Its sad when people have such a negative way of looking at a positive thing, funny though I have lived here my entire life, over 50 years and have never gotten one ticket from a Lakewood Police Officer. But when I have had to call for one, they always showed up prompt and courteous, professional. Perhaps you are doing something wrong or are just an unfortunate soul.

  3. Tickets- #9- , it’s funny. I avoid driving and parking illegally, so I don’t worry about getting tickets. Why are you worried? Are you the one who cut me off yesterday, went through a stop sign, left a parking space without looking, sped through the yellow light, made a left as soon as the light turned green, and never uses your “blinkers” to let people know that you are turning? Then I get why you are worried. Now, you get this: more cops in town is a GOOD thing. Not even a question. Thanks, officers, see you around!
