[Submitted by Mrs. Sarah Lasry] Hi, As you know many of our family & friends in the 5towns, Riverdale & NY area have been hit tremendously hard by the wrath of Hurricane Sandy.
This past Shabbos, Dave Weinberg of Silver Spring, MD & the Silver Spring community hosted over 150 people from NY displaced by Sandy for a Warm Comforting Shabbos in Maryland.
Dave & his crew are sending back the buses filled with those NYers & much needed supplies today from Silverspring.
Here in Lakewood we are lucky that many of us have our homes and our belongings in tact – a few days with out power is nothing compared to some of the devastation these, our fellow Yidden are facing.
It has come to our attention that the MOST URGENT REQUEST from these areas now are for BOTTLED WATER & EMPTY GAS CANS. Please take the time out today and tomorrow to drop off your unused bottles of water and gas cans so we can deliver them to NY ASAP.
LOCAL BUSINESSES WITH TRUCKS: WE ARE IN NEED FOR TRUCKS who are available to deliver these items to the hard hit areas. Please let us know ASAP if you can donate the time & the truck.
Drop off in Lakewood will be at 1219 North Lake Drive from 2-5. For any questions please contact Sarah Lasry 732-597-3424
Call Twin Rocks water delivery 732.730.9877 and leave them a message. They have been working around the clock.
I don’t beleive people are asking for help for people in NY,when we have people only a few miles from us who need help and not a plea for them.Try helping people in your own backyard and state.
whats chesed helping others
does it matter were they are from
we are all in need of something it should not matter were it comes from
as long as someone is able to help you
To Lakewood,
Why does everything have to get so political, All Mrs. Lassry is saying is that their are community’s in NY that left families with only their shirt on their back, literally No house. No car, no furniture, no clothes, No personal belongings, and all they want is some water, shame on you Mr Lakewood!!!!!
TO #2 All the things you said are going on right here in OCEAN COUNTY. Try helping some of those families ,they could use a lot of items also.
