  1. Now that school days are upon us drivers need to be careful and obey the bus signal lights…I have seen cars drive right thru a bus lights that were blinking….parents also need to remind their children to look both ways when getting on and off the bus and never to bend down to pick up something that dropped like their homework, glove, etc….

  2. To number 1 did u read the article ?? A 16 year old was struck by a HIT AND RUN DRIVER !! What do u mean what happen ?? READ AGAIN !! PRAYING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY FOR THE BOY !! Hope they catch the driver..

  3. To lakewood resident, and why would u say the license plate say nh or pa ?? I know why you might have said that but what about a new York plate ? Sounds to me like your speculating a Mexican did it ?? Regardless of who did it hope they catch the person ho did it !!!!

  4. poor driver. he was probably spaced out. and when he realized what happened he panicked. children should be reminded by drivers to look both ways just in case.

  5. To Lakewood resident
It could have been a NJ license plate. Heaven knows three quarters of the people who cut me off, pass on the left or shoulders, or run thru red lights have a NJ plate. That was just a thoughtless comment to make. Who ever it was should have stopped and patiently waited…I wish a speedy recovery to the injured young man.

  6. What happened to the traffic light they were going to be putting up at the corner to slow down traffic and make that whole area safer?????? Hey TLS how about a poll about the light at Pine and MLK, then maybe a petition by the residents, or people who drive through there everyday.

  7. I saw this accident right after it happened. It was dark out and it looked like the bus driver was stopped on the street opposite the entrance to Pine Acres and not at the corner.

  8. a n.j. or n.y. plate would never run from the scene of an accident (regardless of what you think of their driving). the n.h., mass., and pa. plates are all illegal and have no driver’s licenses and run for their lives when they get into accidents (I’ve witnessed it many times). Just the fact that they have out of state plates in new jersey (from states they’ve never been to) and never change them is illegal.

  9. the neighborhood is growing rapidly and the township should take the responsibility to create a safer intersection. There is no excuse for not installing traffic light(s) on MLK.

  10. the patient was treated by hatzolah EMTs, lakewood EMS, hatzolah Paramedics. he was transported by lakewood ems and hatzolah paramedics. these 3 agencies worked very nicely and professional together. keep up the good work.

  11. Thanks for defending our PA and NC drivers. Go to traffic court and see for yourself how many of these drivers are sighted for hit and runs. And those are only the ones who got caught! We are talking about a constituant of people who have never read a drivers manual (its in English) and who have most likely never been taught to drive safely. You ever try driving in Mexico? I have once and I vowed never again. So please, just because NY and NJ license plates cause some fender benders does not mean one of them would hit a person and drive off!

  12. SOLUTIONS:

    1. police enforcement
    2. expose accident stats – Lakewood vs other similar town
    3. reflectors
    4. sidewalks
    5. better street lights

  13. why are there so many comments speculating what country of origin the hit and run driver came from, who cares! My biggest concern is the young man that was hit. any news on his how he’s doing??

  14. and exactly why was my comment not posted “Scoop” ? nothing derogatory, offensive, accusatory . I do not understand on what premise comments are arbitrarily censored or omitted ……makes no sense!
