Members of the Lakewood Township community are taking time to remember the heroic actions of those men and women who have served in the military and are now serving in the military with two ceremonies, May 24 and May 28.
Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller has announced a memorial service will take place May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium, 231 Third Street Lakewood. The tentative agenda for the service includes the opening remarks by Mayor Miller, the posting of the colors, singing of the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, prayer for the men and women in service, a moment of silence, Memorial flag placement ceremony, tribute video, comments from Lakewood Township Committeemen, and a closing benediction.
Lakewood’s traditional Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. at Lakewood’s Town Square, Clifton Avenue, Monday, May 28. The Memorial Day Parade pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take place.
In case of inclement weather the Memorial Day ceremony will be postponed to a later date.
Organizations and especially veterans who would like to participate in the Memorial Day program should contact the Mayor’s office at 732-364-2500 ext. 5973 or email [email protected]. TLS.
May G-d protect and preserve our valiant heroes in uniform.
please make not that a memorial parade is a silent parade, our parade was disgraced a few years back when a group in that parade played music and danced. this is not that type of parade. this is a somber parade remembering the men and women that have made the ultamite sacrifice . thank yo u. look foward to seeing everyone monday morning
Why do we need two different ceremonies? Sounds like a waste of tax money. Can we show our support for the men and women who lost their lives for this country by coming out for the parade. Every year the crowd gets smaller and smaller.
may all my brothers past & present , be safe & come home safe. A fellow veteran..:)
I would love to come with my family and participate. However, this year Memorial Day falls out on the Jewish holiday of Shavuos, and Orthodox Jews may not drive on Jewish holidays. Therefore, unfortunately, I will not be able to make it.
May G-d Almighty watch over all our service men and women, and their families, and bring them home safely.
I was always proud of Lakewood’s commitment to those that serve. Not all towns have parades anymore. Kudos to Lakewood for having both the parade and a memorial ceremony.

What are you smoking? What tax dollars does the memorial ceremony use? The electric that runs the microphone?? Get real, show some respect to those that fought and made the ultimate sacrafice for our freedom.

I’m also an Orthodox Jew and I’ll be attending the memorial ceremony on Thursday evening. I’m appreciative that Lakewood is having two events so that at least I can attend and show my support.
