Man Killed On Route 88 After Being Struck By Vehicle

A man was struck and killed by a car on Friday night on Route 88, police said. The man was reportedly crossing Route 88 near Clover Street at about 9:00 PM when he was struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported by EMS to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, where he was pronounced dead.

Lakewood’s Traffic & Safety Division and Ocean County CIU are investigating the crash. TLS-MK.

  3. Before everyone blames the city, drivers etc, any chance the victim was intoxicated?

    A high percentage of all these pedestrian deaths happen on weekends late at night, when drivers have a hard time seeing staggering drunks stumbling along busy, winding Rt.88

    Ask the EMS, they need to clean up the aftermath every weekend.

    My answer is this: We do not need more of you…what we need is for residents of this town to pay attention when and where they walk. You can’t put a traffic light at every intersection, its rediculous..Grow up and take some responsibility..it didn’t happen at an intersection it happened between them…but people don’t pay attention when they walk, so why bother with them..
