Many have inquired as to why they have not yet received their latest Tax bill. Deputy Mayor Steven Langert tells TLS the reason for the delay is due to the County not yet certifying the tax rate. The reason the tax rate wasn’t yet certified, is mainly due to the fact that the State budget was not finalized until last week.
“In the State budget, different towns get different aid”, says Langert, “although we already basically knew what our State aid was going to be, there’s always a chance there will be a last minute cut or something will change”, Langert says.
Langert says had there been any additional cuts, the Township “would have had to scramble to possibly find additional cuts, or raise taxes”.
Langert says the tax bills – which are for the remainder of 2011 and first half of 2012 – are expected to arrive over the next few weeks.
The grace period will be extended to 25 days from the date of mailing. TLS.
People going away will get stiffed with interst & late payment fees.
A new way to fill the gap.
you know when tax bills are due. its your responsibility as a homeowner to check with the tax collectors office and keep up on it.
read the notice on the website. you will get 25 days from your bill date, so unless you are disappearing for months, you will have a fair chance to pay.
