The two wars being fought in the Middle East are having an effect on local police departments back home, and there is a shortage of ammunition for law enforcement agencies because of the high demand. In New Jersey, experts tell Gannett New Jersey it has yet to become a safety issue. But rising costs and a decreased supply have put a burden on law enforcement to stockpile ammunition, and that can be a problem during lean economic times.
Some orders take a year to fill, forcing towns to make larger orders to compensate, and that can stretch budgets.
The head of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police says he’s heard the same story from police departments around the state. TLS-MPIP
this is baloney during wwii there was 10 times as much ammo being used and everone had ammo then. Let the head of all this nonsence obama give out jobs to people and produce more ammo.

stop the wars and we well have more , the cops need them here, does lakewood know about the wars
Just buy the ammo from the “Bloods,Crips”…..They don’t seem to be running low.
To 1 and 2- Were you alive during WWII?? Did you buy ammo at that time? There was a shortage of everything. Tires, gas, food, ever heard of rationing??? I wasn’t there, but I I paid attention in history class.
Even if there was no shortage during WWII on ammunition specifically, we had every company in the country producing things for the war including ammo. We don’t have that today- so of course we have a shortage. At the very least there is a bigger demand, which equals higher prices. I know for a fact the prices are higher.
