PHOTOS & VIDEO: During a periodic cleanup around town by the Ocean County Department of Corrections this morning, the Mayor along with Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien were on hand attempting to salvage a kids clubhouse. The clubhouse, built approximately 20 feet away from the train tracks on Park Avenue, was deemed unsafe by the police department, and it was ordered to be torn down.
After explaining to the Mayor and Committeeman that there was a liability issue with the structure, the structure was torn town.
The idea of the graffiti and trash cleanups by the Department of Corrections was spearheaded by Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien. TLS-CCP.
so much for the quality of life issues…..could be the area was’nt zoned for that type of structure……!
Reb Meir Lichtenstein puts up with a lot of demands and criticism. He
accepts that it goes along with the “job”. He’s got a lot of class.
I feel sorry for the kids, but it didn’t look safe anyway. Hopefully the parents will help them build a real clubhouse that won’t collapse on them. I’m not sure if those tracks are in use- even if they aren’t it’s still unsafe.
no place for that, put it in a backyard
when will the freight trains run again?????
The trains sure do run and its not the safest place for children to hang around.
The other day i was driving and was held up by the train that was passing and i saw children running towards it touching it as it passed.
Watch your children if you live near the tracks we dont need any stories to happen to get the message clear
if you really want to see a home built structure try the multi-level tree house built on (moderated)(built about 3yrs. ago) it’s three times the size..i guess the zoning was okay.?
Go figure! There’s graffiti all over and instead they’re busy breaking kids clubhouses. . .
I built the clubhouse, the roof held 5 kids without it shaking. we were in middle of making a railing on the roof as you can see. When this area is all overgrown and has groundhogs and skunks all over, the police don’t do anything about it, but to knock down my clubhouse – that they can do?! I’m really upset and so are all the kids in the neighborhood. We worked really hard on our house and had fun.
kid
grew up in lkwd to we built many club houses then an tore many down build. one bigger and better somewhere normal
I it looked good and strong. why do you have to brake it the kids work hard let them keep it ok that was mean
omg i saw those kids puting it up . it looked like they tryed very hard
They should’ve hired a lawyer and gotten a variance.
OUR SON WHEN HE WAS 12 BUILT A CLUBHOSE, AND IT WAS THE BOYS CLUB, AND it was built years ago now where the Whispering Pines townhouse are presently.
Every day excited, he came home and said oh it’s almost finished, it lasted about 4 weeks, when three parents of the boys club mentioned that this was just a great idea, however, we all wanted the children to be safe, and having newspaper covering the entire inside of the clubhouse was not safe nor was it what the owner of the land wanted to see there,
The owner allowed the boys to build a clubhouse, and with him overseeing it, and they could have it for the summmer, and no smoking, no boys will be boys books, just fun and laughter, and snacks, WHEN SEPT came around, it was gone, the boys did have a great adventure and a nice summer.
I am sure every boy thinks about doing something of this nature, we must always be aware of safety first.
Put a new club house in the new round about on oak st and albert ave have plenty of room there.
ok this is normal
the boy was not able to learn the next day because his “house” was torn down!!!
you have more rachmanis on the “others”… at tent city than these regular jewish boys!!!
btw watch the video it did take 3 to stand by and watch and another 3 to knock it down thats 6 peaple and u say it was not strong at all i spoke to e. b. (the contractor, builder,…) personaly and he told me it was strong anough to hold 4-5 children.
btw not to mention stealing… and breaking (using )his equipment!!!!!
ps. it will be back up by…
