Some residents are having a hard time paying their water bills, but not because of their financial situation, but because the MUA’s billing system is apparently not in order. At least two customers who paid with credit card via their website realized that their accounts were never credited.
One customer tells TLS he received a water bill from the MUA claiming hedid not pay his previous balance. The previous balance, the customer says, was paid online using their website, and en email confirmation from his credit card indicated the transaction was successful.
“I found transaction in my credit card bill and email confirmation about the payment”, the customer says. “I called them and they say they have no record of payment but will look into it and get back to me”. “I heard from someone else this week that they also paid with a credit card and it was not credited to their account”.
Another customer tells TLS he recived a bill for $830, while his bills would usually be approximately $180. It was later discovered, that the overcharge was due to the system not recognizing his credit card payment.
Customers paying with credit card are urged to confirm the credit on their account by contacting the MUA. ANother option, is to pay using a check. TLS.
How I wish I can get my water from MUA…even with a billing system that needs tweaking.
They are better than American Water. AW charge whatever they want in terms of usage. I would recommend anyone that uses AW review the bill in detail and contact AW if there are discrepancies. You can complain to the BPU.
Who gets MUA instead of AW? How does it work?
What is MUA – is there a choice of using MUA instead of American Water or does it depend on where you live?
my water bill from american water goes up every month even though I am using less water than I used to. I am a newer homeowner, is this what NJAW is known for. They charged me for 7 days when I first opened the account for the same amount of water they are charging me for 32 days. Is it worth complaining to the BPU.
