A Lakewood child is lucky to be alive this evening after being run over by a school bus.
Video obtained by TLS – and too graphic to publish – shows the child getting off the school bus at approximately 5:30 PM this afternoon, when the driver drove off, running over the child.
Emergency personnel responded, and witnesses tell TLS the boy was talking when they arrived on scene.
The boy was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
TLS spoke with the bus company who said the driver has been removed as a bus driver pending the outcome of the investigation.
Police are investigating the incident.
May the Almighty send a speedy and quick recovery to the injured boy.
“Lucky to be alive” or “b’chasdei Hashem is alive”?
lakewood is the wild wild west
buses should have forward facing and side mounted cameras like the Tesla cars have! There is no reason to be paying today’s prices for yesterday’s products while trucks, tanks and motor homes have all been revamped with sensors and cams.
Bus companies need to be held accountable for harboring and covering up for unsafe drivers. A 3rd party review board should be formed to handle all complaints and they should be mandated to keep records of all complaints of misconduct.
I almost got side-rammed by (moderated) bus last week while I was driving past their lot 630am on a Sunday morning. The driver was casually exiting onto rt 9, without looking to see if anyone was driving by. I swerved onto the wrong side of rt 9 to avoid it, and thankfully there were no cars coming toward me that time of day. I called management to report it but they clearly didn’t take the report seriously.
As a bus driver, one of the most important things that we learn during training is to ALWAYS CHECK OUR MIRRORS. We are always supposed to check our surroundings before leaving a bus stop. This driver was a complete moron with an IQ of a tomato.
They never do
Thank you Hashem I moved out of Lakewood last year. NO MORE CRAZY TRAFFIC JAMS!!!
