Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Improper Parking

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hi,

It is about a year since I reached out regarding the parking situation on Private Way between 5th and 6th St. People continue to illegally park on the side of the street with no parking signs. The police no longer even bother coming to ticket. It is dangerous to have parking on both side of the street. What can be done about this situation?

Thanks

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good morning,

I have requested Traffic & Safety pay more attention to this area

Thanks

Ray

  1. What about Oak Street between Sheraton & Hilton? People park by the shul past the no parking sign and you can’t see cars coming down oak towards river! We call it an emunah turn because you just have to go and hope for the best. It’s time Lakewood police drive around and ticket for parking violations!

  2. Park Place next to the 4 Corners Bagel has “No Parking” signs placed that designates 50 ft on the west side and 100 ft on the east side. I thought we drive and park on the right side of the road where there’s two way traffic in the United States. Maybe some of these drivers should be re-tested for regulations a sight.
