Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Pine Park Playground

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hello Mr mayor,

I frequently go to pine park with my children. and for the last 2 years or so there are parts of the playground that are broken. can we please have this addressed? (attached please find photos, this is the furthest playground in the park).

Thank you

Response from Mayor Coles:

Thank you for this request. We have a great deal of playground equipment and parts on order. As with many things lately there is a significant delay from when we order to when the parts arrive.

I have asked our public works director to do whatever he can to get all the equipment up and running as soon as possible.

Take Care

Ray

    • Maybe I misunderstood, but it seems that he said, in response to this letter, he tried pushing along the fixes with the public works director. That has got to be somewhat helpful, no?

  1. What do you want him to say?
“Let me grab my toolbox and I’ll be out there in 15 minutes.”
You made him aware of the situation and he responded by saying he would let the appropriate people know.
What more do you want from him?

  2. with all due respect-we cant keep saying-“things are backed up” thats a crock of balloney!! certain things gotta be fixed asap and not blamed on a pandemic that ended a year ago!

  3. This is not the first time some one brought up the Pine Park playground, and the answer is always the same answer.
“Parts are on back order I will tell the Public works Director”

The real reason is this town does not care about the parks in this town, it is selling them out to developers and not replacing them.
If you don’t believe me look at the park on 4th and Princeton

  4. I recently waited 3 months beyond expected delivery for parts. And last year when my furnace went, the part had a 2 month wait, normally2-3 days.

The public works director isn’t molding the plastic for our slides and probably doesn’t have a welding certificate. I know it’s hard, but give them a break.
