Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Friday that a judge has ordered the suspect in a recent Lakewood double murder to remain detained pending trial.
Tyshaun Drummond, 39, of Toms River, will remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending trial on two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Nicholas Hardy, 36, of Toms River, and Sergio Chavez-Perez, 32, of Lakewood, in the early morning hours of December 19, 2021, in the Brentwood apartment complex on River Avenue in Lakewood.
Besides for the murder charges, Drummond is also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and burglary.
Drummond has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his release from a local hospital on December 21, 2021.

That’s a pretty big move on the judge’s part. I mean. he could have let the guy out on bail or good behavior until the trial. This way, if he would murder someone else, they could charge him with 2 murders. Go figure! I don’t get it.
While common sense and basic sanity prevailed, in this particular scenario, I am very concerned with the suspect’s emotional well-being, while incarcerated.
The last thing that we want is a depressed murderer, maladjusted to prison life, who could harm himself.
Isn’t there a law providing social workers for the criminals, or was that only instead of policemen out in the street, as a major deterrent?
