Although it’s just the beginning of the summer, local fire officials are looking ahead to next Lag B’Omer and planning to improve the bonfire permit process.
Lakewood Fire Commissioner Larry Loigman met this week with Ocean County Chief Fire Marshal Dan Mulligan and Lakewood Fire Chief Jon Yahr to review this year’s Lag B’Omer activities. Also present were Fire Commissioner Yakov Steinberg and Administrator Yehuda Beer.
More than 140 permits were issued this year by the Fire Marshal’s Office, with very few glitches being reported. However, to make the process more efficient, the County and the Fire District have begun to devise an even better system for next year.
“We welcome any suggestions from the community,” Loigman said. “Chief Mulligan has always been very responsive to our concerns and will be working with the Fire District to accommodate Lakewood’s needs, as we all strive to assure the safety of our residents.” Any ideas can be forwarded to Loigman in care of the Fire District office.
