The House of Representatives passed President Joe Biden’s massive $1.9 trillion Covid relief bill, in his first major legislative win as president.
The bill passed in a completely partisan fashion, with all Republicans voting against the bill and just two Democrats joining them. The vote was 219-212.
The House’s bill includes $1,400 payments for individuals making under $75,000 a year, a $400 a week unemployment benefits boost, and a $15 federal minimum wage, among others.
The bull now goes to the Senate, where lawmakers will likely make changes to it and attempt to pass a different version of the bill. If it passes, it will need to be voted on again by the House.
