Thousands in Lakewood are without power, and tens of thousands around Ocean County, as tropical storm Isaias moves into the region.
Tree and wires are down around Lakewood, taking out power to traffic lights as well.
The strong winds and rain are expected to continue until approximately 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
UPDATE: Governor Murphy says that some power outages in the state could last days due to the severity of the storm and extensive nature of the damage.

I would suggest that you revise this post. Wouldnt want to scare anyone..
.
Maybe something like “Very strong winds hammer Lakewood, no Tornados have touched down”.
Any tornado sightings in Lakewood, Jackson, Toms River?
Which areas in lakewood have lost power so far…?
When is power expected to be restored for Lakewood?
Anyone knows when is power expected back on?
Once again, a reminder:
We control nothing !!
This website is very helpful in times like these:
outages.firstenergycorp.com/nj.html
Traffic light seems to be ripped off at swarthmore and cedarbidge. Which dept is responsible for fixing this?
I dont’t see where the website tells you estimated time when power will be restored.
i don’t need to know how many other people are in misery
does ANYONE have information on the expectation of this outage!
Please call in your outages!
The 911 call not working is actually pretty terrifying. Reminds me of the video trump retweeted with the 911 caller
called jclp. No help. Let’s all daven
Can the Lakewood Scoop keep updating us, when the power will be restored, or on the progress.
Thanks
In reference to to : moved from new york who said “I don’t see where the website tells you estimated time when power will be restored.”
If you zoom in and click on the icons, the map most certainly DOES tell you an estimated time when power will be restored, in some cases. For instance, if you zoom in near Hope Chapel Rd. and Miller Rd, then click the green circle with white triangle, an Outage Information panel appears. It shows Estimate Restoration for that area as being: Tomorrow 1:00 AM.
Let this all be a reminder for all of us who really runs the entire world and who sent this raging storm as a wake up call message for serious teshuva and achdus ASAP together.
May we all get our act together ASAP so we can prevent these wake up calls in the future.
Stay safe and daven to Hashem.
Any updated information from jcp&l??? Please?
The electric company situation here in Lakewood is inexcusable. I’m pretty sure that a few years ago in Flatbush they changed all the electric company wiring to be underground so these type of blackouts would not happen. We are paying high enough prices that they should not be allowed to put our children and elderly parents in danger. We should have a mass protest to get this changed.
I’m convinced that there is serious mismanagement of these situations due to power companies being conglomerates that control unilaterally the entire state or cities without competition. They flipped our power off today, perhaps a downed wire caused it. Then they flipped it on about 7pm. Thankfully. There was no storm at the time, no wind for many hours. Then they flipped it off again now at 11 pm. Then on again at 12:40 AM The weather has been beautiful in the interim, so it wouldn’t have been a new infrastructure issue that caused the second power outage. Someone in the office there is operating according to some kind of storm protocol manual. And going about it very officiously. It’s very frustrating being a resident here. I know a lot of residents all across New Jersey are without power because of this particular storm. But I have seen this happen in Lakewood too too frequently and I’ve studied the maps each time, and this power cutting thing happens often here in Lakewood, especially in 2019, it was terrible. There were many, many times when only Lakewood, about 15,000 customers, were affected out of 1.1 million customers. But even that aside it just happens too often in general in New Jersey. I personally have lived in a number of cities and I’ve never experienced this frequency of power outages.
