Earlier this week, Lakewood School Board Attorney Michael Inzelbuch and the District’s social workers were in touch with the family of former student Moises Garcia, who died at the age of 25 while hospitalized. They discussed with the mother of Moises and one of his siblings their immediate needs and related potential legal issues.
Moises and his family reside in Lakewood, but Moises attended an out of district placement at the district’s expense during his school years, and most recently worked at The LADACIN Network, a developmental disabilities workshop in Lakewood.
Later that day, in coordination with the PBA Local 71 (Lakewood), much-needed food was provided to the family.
“This is one of the many mitzvahs (good deeds) coordinated between the Board of Education and the Lakewood Police,” Inzelbuch said. “Such services have been provided to all segments of the community, much of it done without any publicity.”
Inzelbuch gave special shout-out to Officer Alex Guzman, Board Social Worker Sally Castellano, and Executive Secretary Omi Segui.
